B-Day comin up, $100 budget. What do I want?

(in Foo because I'm not sure I want something cycling related)

So yeah, I have enough bike stuff to outfit a small army. I have a portable music device that works just fine (in fact I have two). I'm not a gamer. I'm not into sports memorabilia, so something like a Joe Sakic sweater would be "eh." (nothing against Joe). I look around the house and there's nothing I "need." (and I'm very thankful for that). And I'm not a massage/spa kinda guy either.

But the wife is pretty insistent that I give her ideas. $100 max. Honestly I'd rather we save that hundy for our baby. But I know my wife, that won't fly. I have to come up with ideas. I'm stuck. Halp?

Prime rib at that fancy spot?

A case of the 2009/2010 Stone Vertical bombers (investment opportunity there also)?

A nice bottle of single malt scotch?

Mad money for future races or events?

superdex 04-20-09 04:32 PM

oooh, scotch. now that's an idea :D

Or a fancy baby sling so daddy can carry the baby around in style:thumb:

Overpriced booze or food is always good.

Maybe tickets to a concert, although these days $100 doesn't even by great tickets.

the bike-trailer is a good idea, I'm already setting expectations with the wife that he's getting a helmet for his 1st birthday to go on rides with Daddy :)

and thanks to a very generous sister-in-law, already have a TON of baby stuff (though 95% is girls'; we're having a boy). One of those wonderful items is a baby bjorn. Hot Dog.

Alfster 04-20-09 04:45 PM

get one of those remote control, micro helicopter thingies. They look like fun.

superdex 04-20-09 05:02 PM

have one. Still in the box it came in here in my office.

ugh, see, not easy!

Hickeydog 04-20-09 05:08 PM

Condoms. Lots of condoms.

oooh now yer talkin. I've been wanting to do a quick (1 night) credit card tour for a couple years now. Hmmmm

MillCreek 04-20-09 05:20 PM

REI gift certificate.

CbadRider 04-20-09 06:54 PM

Do you have a good camera to take photos of the baby?

$100 extra could get you something you normally would not have bought.

ModoVincere 04-20-09 07:01 PM

Nice Vintage Port. Might even be able to get 2 bottles.

Then don't waste any money on guy stuff. Once your son is born, you can buy all the stuff you want for him. It's the best excuse for not growing up ever.

A hundred $1 hookers!

Or perhaps fewer hookers, and spend some of the excess on blow.

Another pair of bibs never hurts.

artifice 04-20-09 08:29 PM

1 night at a nice B&B with an in-suite private hot tub.

If that doesn't work for you, my bday is the end of May, so BFers can start pooling their money for my mini-vaca.

I guess I'm out of the loop. you can get blow for $100?

To be honest, you're not getting enough for all the hookers at that price. But as the economy went in the dumper, so did blow futures, so it's a real buyer's market out there.

Hickeydog 04-21-09 05:59 AM

I don't want to know how you know that.

Actually, this isn't a bad idea, coming from someone who also has a new-ish baby who is still nursing and the "pill you can take while you nurse" isn't exactly the greatest idea.

I am not sure if you can get a comfortable trailer for $100 unless it's severely used, but I agree with the helmet idea, too.

The Bjorn is awesome; just use it right away so you and baby both get used to it. We started using ours way too late and only used it twice.
