My SO says I'm "old" cuz I go to bed early and get up early - are you an early bird?

She has to stay up late just cuz it's Friday or Saturday night, then sleep half the day away. I would rather get up early, go for a ride, a run, a drive in my Convertible - enjoy the beautiful morning.

How about you?

I wake up at 5 am weekday mornings to go into work early. Staying in bed until 8 am on the weekends is really sleeping in for me.

I'm nocturnal but nothing past 3 much any more.
My heart does not even beat at 5:00 am, I would have to be awakened with a defibrillator.

But if getting up early meant you could leave work at 3:30 and get in a nice afternoon ride along the beach, it might be worth it.

I am with you right there in the part of using the morning to go outdoors. Specially if you are going for a ride, even the people out there wave more during the morning. Staying in bed during a beautiful morning is such a waste.... however...

1) I'm a night shifter, I work all night and I need to sleep during the day.

2) Sometimes I need to do stuff at home that require some degree of critical thinking (like doing the budget or studying for an exam). With a wife that whine all the time and 2 kids that learned from their mother, is impossible to use one's mind fully. The interruptions alone will drive you crazy. On those situations I prefer to stay up all night in my office, doing what needs to be done while everybody sleeps. Then I go to bed before everybody wakes up to avoid the stress of the daily morning chaos.

Now, apart from the topic and because of my personal experiences with women (which had not been the best BTW): If I had a girlfriend that likes to party on Friday and Saturday nights I would try to get the hell away. Going out once every few months is enough for me. The only purpose of going out every week is to meet potential mates. Once the mate is secured at home, there's no need to go out anymore except to make the mate happy once in a while. Plus going out costs money and I have my mind on my money and my money in my mind.

Even after having to be at the jobsite by 7AM for 20+ years...I am still not a morning person.

I stay up as late as I can, then minutes before the deadline for leaving, slam the snooze button for the last time, roll into my clothes and drive off with sleepsand still in my eyes.

I wake up around 330am every morning. And as you see, it's 10pm right now and I'm still awake.

Same here. I have to wake up 5am and get out of the house by 6:30am to get to school at 9am. Been doing it for two years now, but I still hate hate hate it. Before that, I still had to wake up at 5am to be the first one to shower in the dorms in HS. I rather like waking up at around 8:30am, getting to work 9:30-10 and working until 6pm-ish.

I find it hard to sleep most nights too. Today's xkcd shows *exactly* how I am when sleep time rolls around...

I'm a morning person. During summer I will wake up to half an hour before my alarm goes of at 6am. In the weekends, I consider it a big sleep-in if I get to 7.30am. I usually go to bed between 9.30pm and 10.30pm.

It doesn't mean I necessarily get any thing productive done in the mornings, but I wake then.

In winter I sleep in later and go to bed earlier. I guess that I sleep according to how much light there is. The more light, the less sleep.

I had a pretty good schedule going for a while, I'd go to bed at 11 or so, and be up by 8. Then one night, I did a bunch of speed and cleaned until 3am. I've been screwed ever since. 2am pretty much every night. Sigh.

I'm a morning person, pretty much always have been but am even more so now that I'm into cycling. Most mornings I'm up at 4.30am and out the door by 5am for training ride. Usually in bed by 9.30pm. A sleep in for me is waking up at 6.30am. I haven't used an alarm clock probably thirty years. I just somehow know what time to wake up.

I get up at 4:45am every weekday morning and have been for some time, and I'm still not a morning person. An ideal time for me to get up is around 6:00-6:30am. Anything earlier than that is just unnatural, but unfortunately I have no choice.

I am most definitely a morning person. I'm up between 4 and 5am and I go to bed usually no later than 10pm.

up at 3:30 or 4:00 to train during the week. Usually up by 6am on the weekends if nothing special is going on. I'm in bed by 8:30.

My wife is a night owl. So we go to bed at different times. She's creative and does a lot of her stuff at night then falls asleep watching TV on the couch.

We only sleep together when there's no "sleeping" involved.

I am a morning person and a night owl; they don't always work well together, though.

Generally, if I am not working, I am still up by 7am and I feel it's a waste to sleep in beyond that. In the evening I shoot for bed by 9 but we don't really go to bed until 11pm, and it doesn't bother me.

At the same time, I am most creative and do my best work after 9 or 10pm, so it's a weird trade off that I struggle with often.

Start work at 5:30, so during the week I am up early. Love the morning rides.
Weekend depends on what time I got to sleep. Quite often I automatically wake up 7:30 even if I ended up going to bed at 3:00.
