so, if you stole an illegal copy of iWork (which is a sorry substitute for Office, imho), you might have installed a bot on your Mac?

serves you right, if you ask me.

And a Rolls Royce is better than a Saturn... But I am not going to waste perfectly good money on a Rolls or a Mac.

I've seen Trojan horses first-handed on IRIX, Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, System 6, OS X, Linux, BSD, and of course Windows.

There is only one OS that has MAC protection, and that is RedHat/Fedora, and even that can be disabled if a user really wants to see his or her dancing bunnies.

Over the last 6 months I bought 2 macs. The first one is used for home like activites (web, iTunes) and the second (MacBook) for everything else. The thing is a week after buying the second machne, I bought fusion and a couple of window packages.

So I guess there are two things here:
1. I still have windows running thru my veins
2. I'm not quite a switcher yet coz I have quite switched.

Depends. If you're really wondering, i would imagine a mac. What do you plan on using it for? Is cost a concern?

You're missing the point old man. The impression of many mac users is that OSX is impregnable. Those of us who know better have been saying "just wait". As Mac's continue to increase in popularity, it will become increasingly more apparent that OSX is no different than any other piece of software and holes will be exposed.

The fact that this is related to pirated software means very little other than it's a good way to distribute malware.

I like my Mac, it definitely showed me what a bloated waste Macrosuck
is, but Ive had a few issues with it. Hard Drive destruct at six months, now it wont
shut down and it appears a total software reinstall is the only thing left to do.
Thats not gonna happen, either is taking it back to a 'genius bar' which is a painful,
expensive exercise in self flagulation. I think I will go linux next time.

Its a MacBook with 'superdrive'(?) The Cd burning one. OS x, 4.11.
I did buy it new and got a pretty good deal because my Wife is an
educator so they gave her a pretty substantial break and threw in some
iPod with a video screen. I dont even know where that went, though.
I do like it so much better than PC but its not without its quirks.
I put in OpenOffice and really like that too, but an unexpected problem
occurred when the Open Office changed all my .RTF files to its own version
of .doc, so now people who where only getting mildy unformatted stuff on
PCs are telling me the OpenOffice stuff is wildly unformatted .

Oh well.....Is yours a MacBook, too ?

not really. That smooth aluminum case makes trying to attach the chain a pain in the arse.

I have a macbook with the regular drive; OSX 4.11. I also have openoffice and have found stability to be questionable. Google docs would be great if they offered word formatting and some other options; it could completely replace a word program. My macbook has been dropped on concrete floors, and though the case is chipped, it works great.

You are quite right. Pros continue to use Beta, too. VHS, on the other hand, like Windows, was never very good, and now is obsolete. All the same, lots of people still use both of those "technologies". So if you're OK with VHS, you'll probably be OK with Windows, too.
