I can't be the only one with a Floss Callous

ok, so I am looking at my left hand pinkie on the side of the middle knuckle, and
I have a small patch of tough skin there. I am wondering what the heck I am doing that
is rubbing that patch and making it tough ? I have always had it and I never figured
out what the heck.....

well today finally I figured it out. That is where the line of dental floss I use
leaves the finger wrap and loops to my index finger for flossing. it is the
anchor for the string.

huge life mystery solved

sooo....Anyone else have permanent evidence of flossing
on the hands ???

My wife is an obsessive flosser (even is going through surgery for "excessive brushing" wearing her gums down to nothing) and she has nothing on her hands evident of flossing; I checked. She was wondering what I was checking for and thinks it's weird.

I'd floss, but my teeth are packed too tightly that even dentists break the floss they use on my teeth.

I use Glide floss picks and a water pic, so no floss callous here.

Never had a cavity, either

I'm a habitual tooth-flosser. And I too have a small callous on my index finger (never noticed it before either). Better a callous on the finger than spinach in the teeth, I always say.

I floss a lot, if I had to choose between flossing and brushing I'd usually floss.

No floss-specific callouses, that's cause I have violin callouses.

I hate flossing...my oral hygenist will always say "see your gums are bleeding because you don't floss enough"...to which I reply "my gums are freaking bleeding because you keep jabbing me with that damn pointy pick, good thing you aren't a neurosurgeon you would've killed someone by now"

well the last part about the neurosurgeon is what I'm thinking

I just make sure my gums get a good brush from the tooth brush.

using salt water to rinse helps too.

I must be the only person here who uses a floss holder. Two tines that support a length of floss.

I use the pre flossed picks, see post five above and pic below.

EDIT: That said, I will be investing a floss holder so I can just by the bulk Glide floss and stop throwing away the the whole thing after each flossing.

This is what I use. Perfect for trying to snap the floss in between my tightly-packed teeth.

Do you use Glide? That stuff is great for tight spaces inbetween teeth. I can shred regular floss and end up with bits of string all over my mouth. With Glide, this seldom happens.
