Simple Rules.

#1 Do not ride with someone who has an electrically assisted bike. I got my ass handed to me by my dad who had 2 loaded panniers, and was wearing a button down shirt among other things.

#2 55 miles is a long way to ride. Two packets of Gu on an empty stomach do not make for a wholesome meal.

#3 Pancakes and beer go together very well.

#4 55 miles is a long way to ride. More than 5 hours sleep is required.

#5 55 miles is a long way to ride. Freakin' crap it's a long way.

55 miles is a medium length ride.

I know. My first ride over 20 miles was just a few years ago. I rarely tread into the 30+ range. Once in a while I'll do 45 miles, but this is my first half century in a year or two.

Drink endorush. Remember to read the caution label first. It is probably as big as the bottle.

At least inflate your climbing numbers.
55 miles is decent if you climb something like 6000 feet.

It may have felt like Mt Everest, but it was probably a couple of molehills.

Actually, my dad and I only rode for about 10 miles. I rode to work with him and then split off and did the rest of the torturous ride.

55 miles is a short ride. I think I did 190 over the long weekend.
