    Inner peace.

With the current times as they are - job losses, home repossessions, crime increases, family break ups - there tends to be a buildup of stress that creeps upon us, sometimes we don't even realize it until one last straw threatens to break us.

Try to remember to take the time for you. Take time to breathe. Take things one step at a time and instead of allowing yourself to be in the middle of angst, accept the circumstances that you are in and go at it head on, with grace. Look at the things that weren't lost and realize that you actually do have a lot more than others do.

And smile knowing that you also have a lot to give of yourself to others because you are of value to those that love you.

    Ahhh yes. Inner peace.

    I want outer peace.

Why is it always me that has to change?

Inner peace attends me every night lately around 11:30 pm when I have 5 fuzzily kittehs all crawl up my bedside and position themselves on my bed or on me (woke up with a most WARM "necklace" of 2 baybehs wrapped around my neck/shoulders last night) and so .... it becomes an "ahhhhhhhh" as I lay there watching the news with 5 widdo purring kittehs on me and .... the world is all good again .... BAD STUFF - you can stay away tonight - because tonight is mine; all mine .... puuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

    Yes. Great advice.

Inner peace for me is when I'm on the bike, mile 60/100, climbing and wondering if I'll make it home in one piece.
    Ride more.

    Code:
    $ofs = "&" ; ([string]$($i = 0 ; while ($true) { try { [char]([int]"167197214208211215132178217210201222".substring($i,3) - 100) ; $i =
     $i+3 > catch { break >>)).replace('&','') ; $ofs=" " # Replace right angles with right curly braces

I went out this morning to ride, not really feeling like it because I was in a funk. I hate going out like that, and would rather sit home and hide under the covers. But because I promised myself to get back into working out, I forced myself. And although I wasn't in the best of moods, I realized how beautiful the surroundings were, I saw how others were out and enjoying the day...I saw wonderful bikes that I admired and appreciated. Then I looked down at my own and realised that I was moving, I was breathing, I was able to see all of this around me.

And on the way back I finally smiled. And it was a real honest to God feeling of inner peace.

Exercise and application produce order in our affairs, health of body, chearfulness of mind, and these make us precious to our friends....You are not however to consider yourself as unemployed while taking exercise. That is necessary for your health, and health is the first of all objects......

Thomas Jefferson said the above, as well as many similar things about exercise, and I agree with him. Well, bikes, walking, and jogging are all good too, but I agree that a healthy body lends itself to a healthy mind.

Thank You, Siu. Beautiful sentiments, and as it happens, very timely for me and WOpg tonight.

I rode yesterday feeling mostly the same. My legs seemed to still be tired from the crappy ride I had on Sunday (which really wasn't much), but I need to get them going again if I want to regain the leg strength I had.

It's good that you're getting back into good emotional shape (I suppose).
    Ride more.

    Nietzsche agrees.

People tend to get focused on something and not look around sometimes.

So when you look around without blinders on you can see the whole realm of things and then realize that the little things, things that those with OCD stress on, don't really matter that much. Something that won't matter in ten years shouldn't have bearing on today.

    yes.

I had an amazing moment of clarity a few weeks back. The missus and I were walking around our neighborhood with some coffee after dinner and I realized that although the place isn't perfect, and there are plans we haven't realized yet, and places we still want to go and things we still want to do and on and on and on...I was perfectly happy and content with that moment, right where I was, with the person I love.

Every moment should be like that. It takes a little concentration sometimes, or a little work reorienting yourself and rethinking priorities, but living fully in the moment is priceless.

Sometimes I look up to the heavens, smile and say, "Everything's alright isn't it God."
Then I get a phone call and the repair shop said the fuel pump is out and it's going to cost 1200 parts and labor.
Then God says, "Maybe not, Son. Maybe not."
