Stumptown is better IMO- but I'll second the coffee culture in Portland as a whole!

Voodoo, a friend and I tried to get some when I was there a few weeks ago and we had time for a really fast doughnut run before we left. We went to the address, and apparently that shop/branch was closed?
Tragic, totally tragic.

next time my precious, next time.

I think I'll be down that way to race cross this fall fairly frequently- I'm quite looking forward to it.

Terrible airport and roads. Besides those complaints I would agree with the OP.

I have to say that my companions and I felt let down by the hype surrounding Voodoo donuts: They weren't as good as we were expecting.
But then again: We have Tim Hortons up here; and that is a high bar to be judged against for ANY maker of those holey circles of floury goodness.
"Donuts. Is there anything they cannot do?"
Everything else we experienced during our 2 week visit was the BOMB (Zoo Bomb?)!
Had to drive down; but after parking the Jeep in front of the Hawthorne: It was only used once more in order to move to the downtown Hostel...
Biking in Portland is as effortless as breathing from our perspective...hats off to those who fight the good fight for their favourite steeds down-in-there.

I'm interested in living there but the thought of continuous precipitation really seems like a bummer for cycling commuting.

Factual wonderfulness.
I have to get down there again: Friggin' Brooks saddles are crazy-stupid-pricey up in here (Vancouver, BC).
Picked up a nice set of PDW leather grips at Rivercity Bikes: My wrist is very thankful.

I guess we were lucky on our trip?
Only one day of hard-core rain. The rest of the time it was great (if not glorious).
And water doesn't scare someone from the "Wet Coast" ;+).
