Fruit Beers

I was at a local deli where I met the owner who coincidentally lives in my 'hood and was born in Maine - like me. So, he had these beers from Bar Harbor. He said some of the locals have went crazy over it.

Anyone else try these fuity beers? I saw a DogFish Head peach ale up there too.

I've had I think it was point beer in a bunch of different flavors. Peach was the best and lemonade was the worst.

I think I'll get it just to have it. I guess it would have went great with the blueberry pancakes I had this morning.

Sounds like a plan. You can't go wrong, maybe you'll even find a new addiction. Who knows.

I'd like to try chocolate beer. Other than that, if I wanted fruit or fruit juice, I'd eat or drink fruit or fruit juice.

Beer is beer.

Beer is beer.
It's good with some Boddington's pear cider under it. But that's a little too intense for me.

Come to think of it, that's the only time I've ever enjoyed a fruit beer.

New Glarus Belgian Red and Unibroue Quelque Chose are easily my favorite fruit beers of all time. As far as what you can find in your local beer store or grocery, I think sam adams blackberry witbier and cherry wheat are quite refreshing. Leinenkugels Berry Weiss is the worst beer I've ever tried...regardless of category.

stay away from that nonsense.

if you're really compelled to have a 'fruit beer', then get a Mort Subite, or some other Belgian Kriek.

Beer is beer.
Chocolate beer is remarkably good, not sweet as many think it would be.
As for "fruity" beer (and "honey" beer), it is just an attempt by the breweries to expand the female market segment.

If you want "fruity", get some real fruit juice......then add generous amounts of vodka.

Frederick Miller's Chocolate Lager surprised me...not bad although I wouldn't buy it again. The chocolate is noticeable without being Hershey syrup-like.

Oscar's Chocolate Oatmeal Stout has a roasted subtle chocolate quality.

Festina Peach may be my least favorite DFH brew and the BBC cant brew a lambic to save their life.

Stick to real Belgian Lambics. I highly recommend the Lindemans Framboise.

Beer is beer.
Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout is THE KING of beers. On tap it can't be beat. Tastes like costa rican black coffee and raw chocolate (not sweet at all). If I could drink this every day, I would.

-----
Some fruit beers are okay. Magic Hat #9 is fairly good (tastes like apricot). Bluepoint is alright. Peach beers tend to be much too light for my liking.
