Who is your favorite Comedian?

Sorry, watching L.A. Ink and my mind is wondering in this thread. The girls on that show are so freaking hot!

Anyway, some of you may not know this but I have been building up some material and plan on doing some stand up comedy sometime in the fall at a local amateur club in Pittsburgh. It's definitely something that I've wanted to do for some time now and I'm hoping to eventually make it my cash cow eventually...just want to pay the bills. I don't care if I have to scrimp and save just to eat Ramon noodles. It's either that or go to law school and become a blood sucking lawyer. Either choice would work out for me. However, I would prefer to make people laugh.

With that said, Bill Hicks is my favorite comedian. He left us way too early folks. Every time I pop in a DVD or CD of his I forget the pain and stress I'm going through. He was truly gifted folks and I suggest you YouTube some of his acts after reading this post.

So, who is your favorite comedian?

Next would be Lanny Bruce, and after that both Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong.

Seriously, though.

Lewis Black or Eddie Izzard.

I don't have a favorite, but I get a lot of replay out of these sets:

Mitch Hedberg - Comedy Central
Eddie Murphy - Delirious
Chris Rock - Bigger and Blacker

If Yucko the Clown has a career, surely you can make some headway.

Carlin was great.

I don't find Dane Cook funny at all. He is my daughter's comedy hero.

That's a Generation Gap right there.

Oh well.

Living-Chris Rock

Dead-Rodney Dangerfield

I really miss that show Tough Crowd that used to come on before The Daily Show because they always had some of the best stand-up comedians working at the time, with a little Carrot Top thrown in there every now and then.

I like Gallagher's comedy until he starts with the props.

His observational humor gets me laughing.

I liked George Carlin when he wasn't going for shock points with profanity... Again, his observational bits were the best.

I guess I like comedians that look at society and deconstruct some aspect humorously. That is what I am calling observational. Personal stories can be funny, but putting it in a broader picture helps me to see humor around me even after the act.

Dane Cook chews.

My friends think he's funny.

When I'm at one of their places watching cable television and he comes on, I'm almost obligated to laugh at the stupid **** that comes out of his mouth to prevent my friends' feelings from getting hurt when I have to explain why I'm not laughing and why he sucks so much ass.

My favorite is whomever can make me laugh. There are some so-called comedic geniuses that do nothing for me. I might be a dumb Okie, but I find the British whit appealing. The wife can't get enough of 'Are You Being Served?' on PBS and I'm seriously craving some olde 'Fawlty Towers'. Don't know if John Cleese ever did stand-up, but he sure has amazing comedic timing.
