shopping malls. why oh why?

I went to one today. It was a torturous experience.

How can this be considered a leisure activity? If you like it, you are a pea-brain. No offence.

I don't mind the occasional visit to a shopping mall, but working at one of the stores ended up being a rather brain-dead experience. Glad I haven't had to do that for long time.

I knew it. It is a women's mecca. There should be adult creches where the women can drop off the men then pick them up again after.

Well, you've seen those benches and chairs scattered throughout the malls.

Leave it to Suzy to make this thread pretty

There are two shopping malls I can stomach in Austin. One is Lakeline on a weekday. The other is the Domain, an open-air mall, which was paid for by Austin tax dollars to set up an upscale place in an area that is fairly easy to access.

imo, malls suck if you are there for someone else, or no good reason at all.

if you are there to be completely selfish and consume goods they are heaven on earth.

they're also good if you like sporting earth tone velour track suits and blinding white walking shoes at dawn.

Malls are okay...if I'm in the right mood. My favorite time for the malls is around Xmas. I like to ride my bike there, park by the entrance (that's where the bike racks are) and wander around staring at the people who hate their lives at that moment. Feels good. Real good.

I can't stand malls. There are a few stores in our mall that have things I can't get anywhere else but if I have to go there, you'll see me walk through with a scowl on my face and at a blistering pace.

The local mall (Southcenter Mall) has a library branch.

Malls do have the "park once" strategy nailed down. What is worse for a community is to require people to drive and park to each store they wish to visit that day.
