    Addicted to Ambien

A doctor prescribed some of these as a temporary solution and now two months later I can't sleep without them. Anybody else have this problem? WTF?

You can get yourself off of ambien by using Tequila as a substitute... then you would only be left with getting off of tequila, but who would want to do that anyway?

But seriously... I thought ambien was supposedly non habit forming?

Ambien is absolutely a habit forming medicine. There is fairly low but possible potential for abuse (any medication that requires a DEA # has potential for abuse), but tolerance does develop commonly. When using it, you are best served by only using it 2-3 nights/wk, and then tolerance is abated.

Addiction sucks, unless you're talking about cycling of course.

Time to take a weekend without it, pull a couple all-nighters and only allow yourself to sleep starting at 8-10pm after, say, the 2nd day in a row you stay awake?

My wife is totally hooked on Ambien. Fortunately she's on a low dose and her tolerance hasn't build up. But she's been on it for over 2 years now. After a few months it will start to wear on her, so she'll drop it for a couple days. Of course, those days off she gets hardly any sleep. She's a real type A personality though and used to keep herself up all night with a mind that just wouldn't shut down. So it's good that she's on Ambien, imho!

I've had no experience with Ambien, but I have tried Rozerem and have had no adverse effects. Rozerem, according to my doctor, may be used on a continuing basis without habituation or dependency.
Iím not familiar precisely with exactly what I said, but I stand by what I said whatever it was.

I took Ambien in the hospital last month. Slept like a baby. I've thought about talking to the doctor about getting some but with my adivictive personality, it's probably not a good idea.

Sorry to hear. Addictions suck and make you do stupid things to get a fix. I know this first hand.
Seek help if you cannot "white-knuckle" it.

    For me it was: Vicodin

I was hooked on percocet for a while. Stopped cold turkey (cause I ran out and was too ashamed to ask for more), followed by a couple weeks of rough sleep and weird dreams, back to normal now.

Nicotine did that to me.....but it took about a month for the dreams to subside.

I took Zolpidem for about 1 month in order to sleep normally. But I halved the dose by cutting the pills in half.

But when I stopped taking it I noticed I couldnt sleep consistantly. Like I will sleep for a few hours then wake up then back to sleep.
