"Please enjoy the music while your party is reached"

I never enjoy the music I am subjected to. Never. Invariably it is some inane, hackneyed, lame, garbage. I typically put it on speakerphone so that others can have a cheap laugh at the person's expense.

Stupid technology.

Better than "please enjoy this delicious cheesy snack while you wait....oh sorry, you can't taste how cheesy and delicious it is through the phone, so enjoy the silence".

I do not actually put people on hold. I set the phone down on my desk and sing until they just hang up.

I rate it the same as a Myspace page with no readily accessible pause button: annoying.

Sorry, but no matter who you are, your taste in music sucks if you have to force it on others.

I'm on a cell phone plan with minutes and listening to their choice of music while the system slowly connects costs me so I hang up. And then text them. Oh and I also note it in my cell phone too.

I'm on the flipside,...

I hate when a company puts me on hold, has some great Muzak playing, but then comes back to me before Too Much Heaven is finished.

If I can ever make the decision on some on-hold music, it will be
a constant loop of Chuck Mangione's "feel so good". That song begs
to be used on hold.

I actually dont mind being on hold when calling godaddy.com (my website's host).
They play Squirrel Nut Zippers on their system.

I don't like when the user's ringback tone runs out of subscription time and gets replaced with classical music.

Its really crappy.

Do they actually say "please enjoy the music while your party is reached"? That's even more annoying than the music.

What would be great is if they would put on some really obnoxious death metal.
Please enjoy "The best of Cannibal Corpse" while your party is reached.

This begs the question: Is there, or will there ever be, a best of Cannibal Corpse CD? I mean that's an oxymoron isn't it? Like Christian Death Metal. "We spew guts for the Lord, Grrrrr."

Affirmative. It's like Pavlov's dog & the bell. I get agitated because I know some Daddy Yankee, or Clint Black, or some equally insipid dance music is going to do the aural equivalent of punch me in the face.

I get that it's got a nice beat and you can shake it at the club to the beats. I swear, it's straight up a sonic hostage situation.

Yeah, I've never heard on-hold music announce itself. Just a sudden burst of lo-fi musak interspersed with either ads for the company you're calling, or "your call is important to us, please stay on the line, chump."

Nah, I'm calling individuals. I think it's available via Verizon, or something. I hate you, Verizon.

Wow, the exceptionally self-important among cellular phone users must love being able to put someone on hold.

It's not really being put on hold. When you call someone, it's replaced the "brrrrring brrrrrring" you typically hear when attempting to call someone.

I just looked it up. Ringback tones. Accursed technology, a pox on you and your house, Verizon.

Quote:
What are Ringback Tones?

Ringback Tones is a new personalization service, which replaces the standard ringtone for your friends and family to enjoy. Choose a song for your callers to hear before you pick up a call. Use the language of music to express yourself before you answer a call and say a word.
The language of music typically chosen, would be the degenerate mutterings and gibbering of Morlocks, but that's just me.

Quote:
Can I use the normal ringing tone during work hours, but use a fun Ringback Tone after-hours?

Yes, the Time Of Day functionality can be used to specify a unique Ringback Tone to be played during a specific time period. The default Ringback Tone will be played during all other times. You can also choose a fun Ringback Tone as your default Ringback Tone.
Oh. Even better. Good thing no one knows how to use this feature.

The Mozart default is hardly crappy. It's one of his most energetic compositions, and you can get the gist of it in one ring cycle. I like it.

Wow, that's... profoundly stupid. What, do users of this "feature" let their phone ring twelve times before answering so that the caller can hear more than three notes of the song?

Technology is dumb.
