how many of you were never taught how to shave

the real reason I don't shave my face very often, my dad never taught me how to shave or care for it.
So I usually just have it done when I cut my hair.

I figured it out on my own.

And like my pops I'm a heretic, I step out of the shower, walk to the sink and shave. No cream, or other stuff, just a razor to the face.

wow. hardcore.

having said that if i am running late (what am i talking about - i mean really really later than usual), I'll grab my wife's razor in the shower and hack the bulk of wet beard off my face....

oh, and no one ever taught me either. I recently went back to a DE razor, what I started out on, at 12!

It is hardcore if you shave dry before you shower.
No one taught me either. It is not the most complicated thing.

No one taught me. I just shave with water before I shower. That way I can watch all the blood swirl down the drain.

I can't remember if my dad taught me or not, but I don't recall ever having any trouble shaving. Warm water, rub the shaving cream in thoroughly to raise the hairs as much as possible (a shaving brush seems to help do this for me), shave with the grain, then across the grain, then against the grain if I'm feeling boisterous. Then rinse with cold water and apply aftershave.

You are not really supposed to use needle nose pliers and a lighter you know?

I'm about the same way, never used shaving cream, don't plan to. I rarely even have moist skin when I shave, because I got into the nasty habit of shaving on the way to work as an abatement worker. While doing abatement, I'd shower twice at work, and once right before bed, and I'd have to shave in the morning in case the state was out, so that I couldn't get fined. So I've long been in the habit of dry as dry gets shaving. I don't see a need for anything more.

I figured out how to shave thanks to Malistryx's excellent photo-tutorial on leg shaving. Before that, it was always an electric razor.

My dad taught me how to shave but with a Mach3 razor. I had to teach myself how to shave with a straight blade. Much better shave btw.

Awe, heck! I just pluck the varmints out one hair at a time with needle nose pliers. Don't have to do it again until the swelling goes down.

no women ahve replied....unless i missed the posts...no one showed me...of course we're talking legs not faces. it's pretty dang simple.

oh yea, in the shower, every other day (just soap). or every day (still soap) depending on whether i might be seeing Airwick or not. and, if i get lazy, and go more than 2 or 3 days i like to use shaving gel.

No one taught me how to shave myself. I just figured it out on my own...after much clumsiness and some razor cuts in some rather...uh...odd locations. *winces* I shave when I'm lazy, wax or use depilatory creams when I'm not.

I was, however, taught how to shave men's faces by an ex of mine. I asked because I was curious, and he was trusting enough to let me take a razor to his face and neck. I am glad to say I only cut him once.

Nobody taught me to shave, I'm a girl.

I usually use body wash/whatever on legs, underarms and the rare time I shave "down there." I HATE shaving down there. Even if I go with the hair growth direction, I itch the next day, Not polite to scratch there in public, yanno.

I'd get it waxed professionally (did that with a home kit in the past, OUCH!) but $ is a prob right now.

shower, get out, lather face, let lather sit a minute or two. shave with multi blade razor. long strokes with firm even pressure. rinse razor after each stroke in warm water. after shaving, use hair dryer to dry razor blade and it stays sharper, longer.

My dad showed me how to shave when I was 14 or so. I tried it for awhile, said screw this! and immediately grew a beard.
