This disgusts me.

I went to the flea market to kill some time before a car show and I saw this booth that had T-shirts for sale. I wished I had my camera so I can show it to you but unfortunately I didn't.

On display was a black T-shirt with huge white letters. "FREE CHORIZO" with a big white arrow pointing to the hem of the shirt.

This was a child size shirt, one that would fit an average 4 year old.

What person would put that on their kid?? I can't believe this guy is selling this.

Free "Chorizo (Spanish pronunciation: [tʃoˈɾiθo]; Galician: Chourizo [tʃoˈɾiθo]; Portuguese: Chouriço [ʃoˈɾisu]; Catalan: Xoriço [ʃuˈɾisu]) is a term encompassing several types of pork sausage originating from the Iberian Peninsula. In English it is usually pronounced /tʃəˈriːzoʊ/, /tʃɵˈriːsoʊ/, or /tʃɵˈriːθoʊ/, but sometimes mispronounced /tʃɵˈriːtsoʊ/.

Chorizo can be a fresh sausage, in which case it must be cooked, but in Europe it is more frequently a fermented cured smoked sausage, in which case it is usually sliced and eaten without cooking. Spanish chorizo and Portuguese chouriço get their distinctive smokiness and deep red color from dried smoked red peppers (pimentón/pimentão or colorau). Mexican chorizo usually has the consistency of ground beef, though drier, due to the high chile powder content.

Chorizo can be eaten as is (sliced or in a sandwich), simmered in apple cider or other strong alcoholic beverage such as Aguardiente, barbecued or fried. It also can be used as a partial replacement for ground beef or pork.[1]"

It's not about what is on the hem. Imagine the same slogan on a larger shirt worn by Ron Jeremy.

That is sick for a child, but! I just came from Spencers where we saw an adult T that had the phrase "$5.00 foot long!" in big white letters with an arrow pointing down towards the crotch!

I've always thought that most clothing with printing is a "race to the bottom" anyway. The "idea" that so many of them put in our heads is something that we would be ashamed to think of on our own. If these images popped into my mind on my own, I would wonder about my maturity and even my decency.

We're bombarded by these things constantly now. But if we say, "I don't like this", we're accused of being a bad sport or, worse, "Where's your head at?"

It's less a book and more an engraved stone tablet.

It's, agreeably, politically incorrect but my sadistic sense of humor prevails. It might be wrong, but it's still funny.

And no, I would never put anything like that on my kid... only a friend's while they weren't looking.
I only laugh on the inside.

A total aside/derail: You're from Cali and you call it a Flea Market?

When I moved East, I realized that only in SoCal was the same thing called a Swap Meet, typically venued at old drive-in theaters. Does anyone else call it a swap meet? I find myself rarely in the market for fleas, but I'm always up for a good swap.

I doubt the shirt was printed in a place where the meaning was properly understood.
I'd bet that those who were in charge of the print run had no idea that the graphic would be considered rude on an XL shirt but could cause outrage on a child's size.

Furthermore, when sold in places where English is not the primary language, the impact is blunted. For example, the use of English expletives in NL in daily conversation, on posters, billboards, and t-shirts is very common. The use of 'F****ng' as an adjective here seems roughly equivalent to saying 'darn'.

You're supposed to be disgusted- I thought that was the whole point. The "Big Johnson" t-shirts are legendary.

I got upset when they started marketing girls shorts with stuff written on the back. There are enough people in the world who don't need encouragement for me to let my (then) 8 year old wear shorts with "Hottie" etc across her backside. So this kid T is just another example. Very poor taste to be sure.

You're supposed to be disgusted at adults! I have seen a couple of youngish teens wearing Big Johnson T's and see red every time. Adults can make adult decisions about whether they want to flaunt society's conventions, etc. Kids cannot. Also, the blatant sexual ennuendo doesn't belong on kid's clothing. Let's let our kids BE kids.

Ha! I used to have a Big Johnson Motorcycles shirt. Now that I think about it, I have no idea where it went.

I also had a shirt... Remember the "No Fear" products? My shirt said, "Some Fear."

I wasn't seeing the problem until you said it was a kid's size shirt. That is pretty sick.

On the other hand, I saw a little kid running behind her dad this weekend with a shirt that said "My Mom's a HOTTIE". That was cute, I thought.
