Bug spray at the beach? What kind of bugs? No bug spray needed out here in CA.

You forgot:
Camera to take goofy photo after drinking alcoholic beverage in the hot sun and not having any water

What does this have to do specifically with hybrid bikes?

OK - no beach nearby ... you're excused ... :-)
Bug spray is for our "Greenhead Flies". Most people just swat them but since I'm intoxicated I prefer to just lye in the sun and not get up to swat. I'm probably the only one who uses spray. Oh BTW I carry water!!!!

oh yeah I remember seeing that. very clever. I had to change a flat on the trail last week and wound up lying the bike on its side. I was away from sand at that point, but I like your inventiveness!!!

Wouldn't be a bad use of bungee cords. I like to get more than one use out of something.

But it should at least be relevant to the forum topic (a thread is a discussion within a forum). This tpoic has nothing directly related specifically to hybrid bikes.

This thread should be moved to Foo.

huh? I use my hybrid to go to the beach, and I carry stuff for a fun day. I use my road bike for other types of rides, you know fast long distance stuff where I carry less, and the experience is more about the speed and distance and not so much the destination. make sense? what's foo?

FOO is a random sub forum, go to the main page and scroll way down. Foo people post on any and everything not necessarily bike related but a lot of fun and very friendly.

Yeah, but you can go to the beach on any type of bike, or in a car, or a bus, or on foot -- and you'll take the same stuff that you listed.

My point being that if this hybrid section of the forums are to have any validity, then the content here should pertain directly to hybrid bikes and not to a bunch of off-topic fluff that people have to sift through.

My sense of humour is fine. But did you miss the part I wrote about validity of this forum? I'd just really like to see this section become one with some value -- posting about non-bike stuff in here is not going to accomplish that.

Nice!
WCP, I don't disagree at all. I think it's how we approach these things. I've made the same suggestion on our founder's thread of random pics, so I made my POV clear and stated, "how about random HYBRID pics". .Problem mostly solved

This thread is so much happier in Foo. I knew it would be.

I also like to make sure that I've got dark sunglasses on when I'm at the beach. You can guess why.

Rumrunn, as the originator of this thread, if you wish I shall close it or delete it if you don't want it here. Either way, it's up to you.
