What is that? A bunch of D batteries? You could probably come up with something more efficient (juice/lb) than that. Motorcycle batteries are often used.

Pretty sweet though....I'm jealous. :o

Put a small piece of duct tape on each side of those bulb retaining rings, they will drop off in a your first few minutes of riding without some sort of extra retention.

For a little while my commuter was equipped with two 12V 20W MR11 halogen lamps powered by a small 12V battery from a home security system. They were sufficient. :D

That's kind of what I'm saying.....a 12V battery would be a better option than a brick of D cells taped together. Lighter and easier to mount somewhere.

I wasn't talking about the power...I only mentioned the motorcycle battery because I've heard of people using that before.

Well this was a lead acid battery, so it probably wasn't much lighter than that brick of Ds! :o But on a 50 pound bike, it wasn't very noticeable. ;) I left the light on one time to see how long the battery would last, and I wound up turning it off after two hours because the housing started to melt (my first housing was plastic. Mistake!). After two hours the light showed no signs of dimming, and I really never found out how long it would last.
