    Is it OK if I tighten this screw? (mechanics question)

    These things are loose on the Cherokee, both sides in the front. They make a very annoying sound. There's a nut on top, you have to open the hood to see it, and it seems I just need to tighten those.



    Photo quality not good, I'll take another one later with better light conditions...

    I'm going to assume we're talking about the top shock mount nut. There should be a rubber donut on the bottom and another one on the top where the stud goes through the mount. If the donuts are there and look good just tighten the nuts.

    I shall tighten. Need to buy wrenches tho... None of my metrics fit (silly me)...

    They should be 1/2". When the rubber has squished to about half their normal size, that should be tight enough.
