Found a cat! can anyone help?

I found a cat today, it was dirty, hungry, and thirsty, but very friendly and very scared, it obviously used to belong to someone, I say this because when I found her she was hiding behind my front garden crying, I went inside and got one of my carriers, opened it and placed it on the steps, when I picked her up she froze and was unresponsive, till I placed her next to the carrier, then she started purring and her eyes froze onto it, I let her go and she ran right in! So I took her in and gave her a flea bath, dried her off, and fed her canned salmon and a bowl of fresh cool water. Now, here is where the help part comes in, is there anyone in or around the Philadelphia area that would be willing to give her a good home? I know it's a lot to ask but I took her to three different shelters and they all told me that they were full, they also told me if I left her there she would most def be put down! So yeah, she needs help ASAP as I have six cats and although I'd love to keep her I just can't afford it. (I also have three dogs!) I'll post a pic of her as soon as she wakes up, I was thinking of posting on C-List but I figure if someone REALLY loved this cat they would have posted pics on C-List or something. Please, if anyone can take her let me know ASAP. Thanks.
EDIT: Forgot to mention she's a younger cat.

Awww...maybe put some signs up saying you found a lost cat? She might have family looking for her. If no one responds, then I'd put up adoption ads.

Will do, I went to check on her and she wasn't in the carrier, she is now in the basement hiding, I'll let her be, when shes ready to come out she will, then I'll take a pic and make some flyers, I hope someone will aswer either the flyers or my post I have a feeling someone tried to turn her in to the local SPCA, found out they are putting animals down due to over crowded conditions, and felt it would be better to let her go than have her put down.

If you quickly do not find someone, take her to YOUR Vet. He/she will know you are doing your best and are overloaded. Most vet's have a somewhat easier time placing animals like that.

The local SPCA is my vet and is one of the spots that told me they would put her down.

PetSmart and all other store that do weekend adoptions get their cats and dogs from the SPCA.

If you end up doing craigslist, make sure you put that you want a 'homing fee', even if you don't want one. When the person calls and asks you how much then you can tell them something real cheap or say that you can discuss it when they come to meet her.

What happens here in NorCal is that when someone lists their animal "free to good home" the pet becomes a victim a dog fighting bait used for training. So PLEASE do not say 'free' unless the person that comes to see her really really is a good home. A person looking for training bait won't pay for one.

Or you can try any one of these:

http://www.adoptapet.com/adoption_rescue/72272.html

Please keep us updated on this.

Only advice (and I'm not near Philly) is to contact a program to subsidizing to neuter her if you feel you have to let her go. I just don't remember the name of the program. It is too late here but I will check tomorrow and see if I can find name.

It was meant to be 10 times already! thats counting a Brown snake! yes! a snake! that showed up at my house! in the middle of the city! I'm telling you guys that this kinda **** happens to me all the time! Last year a Cockatiel landed on my air conditioner! I took him in, cooled him down, feed and watered him, then gave him to a neighbor that had 4 of them, she still has him! keeping all these little critters cost money, and I can barely afford the ones I have, but I promise you that she will not be going back to the streets! or to a shelter where death looms over her head 24-7!

Good advice. They do find you instead of you finding them, and I'm glad only two have found me this time. Even if one of them did come all the way to Chicago from New York to find me...

Yes! I know just what it's like. We've always harbored strays. There were times when we had far too many kittens as a result and were a bit of a nuisance.

We've learned our lesson; now they get fixed. We have four at the moment. The senior one showed up as a little kitten crying and crying and crying. She kept it up, literally, for a day and a half.

I know this doesn't help you much. Just wanted you to know that you're not the only one.

But they're nice to have around anyway. And though it's just a bit expensive, it's an expense for a good cause.

Pretty kitty!

FWIW? Charge a fee regardless. You can always donate it to an animal shelter later. I've heard that bunchers (people that buy animals for labs) are very good at pretending a kitty will be going to a nice home (I've also heard of animal abusers doing this...going so far as to bring their kids along). So please charge at least $50 and do not waive it just because the person "seems" nice. If they ask why you're charging, tell them it's for food or something, or just give them the truth: "free" animals don't usually end up in a good place.

The only way she's going anywhere is if I find someone well known on the forums to take her, seems the owners don't care much about her as I havn't seen a single "Missing cat" flyer posted anywhere, guess she'll just have to hang with my kittys till some forum member answers her call for a new owner.
