Ah, your dad's new car turned out to be a lemon?

And though I have no experience what-so-ever w/ebay, I've heard that negative reviews of sellers are no longer allowed. Dunno if that policy started the downward spiral or because of it...

Guilty of late feedback, but i always leave it. I wait till i can use, install, inspect the item before leaving feedback.

My only irritation over eBay feedback is when sellers wait until they receive feedback from the buyer to leave their feedback. In my mind, the buyer's end of the transaction is over once payment is received by the seller. The seller's end is over when the item is received by the buyer. The seller leaves feedback once the buyer's end is complete, and the buyer leaves feedback once the seller's end is complete. That means the seller should leave feedback first. There's no need for them to wait.

Actually I sold a bunch of bike items recently, left feedback after they paid and have only received feedback from three of the buyers even though I lost money on the shipping on most of the items and shipped them all within 24 hours.

The car, now that's another story. Dad actually bought that after the auction ended so feedback isn't possible on that item. As for the quality, that remains to be seen. It is in the shop now for a worn out bushing in the differential, not sure how much that is going to cost or what else is going to be found. The seller definitely would have known about this issue though considering there is a very loud clunk everytime you shift gears (6 speed manual).

I feel the exact same way. I always pay immediately for items so I really don't know what I could do as a buyer that wouldn't get me positive feedback. As a seller I always ship immediately however I don't like to remove the funds until after I receive feedback or hear from the buyer. You never know what could go wrong during shipping or if the buyer just isn't happy for some reason.

I won't leave feedback for a buyer until they leave me feedback because of the new policy where eBay removed the ability for sellers to leave negative feedback.

I don't understand what that has to do with it. If the buyer paid why not go ahead and leave them feedback?

I had a bad experience where a customer left negative feedback although I resolved his issue.
I accidentally sent a part without a bolt.
He complained that the bolt ($25) was missing so I looked for it but couldn't find it (it was in the picture of the item). I thought it was my fault and got another out of my spare parts and sent it to him immediately with delivery and signature confirmation.
He said that the replacement bolt never arrived (although the signature proved it did) and left negative feedback. He was obviously a liar and the bolt was most likely not missing in the first place. It took two months to have eBay remove the negative feedback and I had to work for it.
Why can't I leave negative feedback for this liar and con artist? Isn't that what feedback is for; to alert others of a buyer's/seller's reputation?

EBay removed the negative feedback option for sellers because it was the most abused feature of the site. If a buyer left anything but positive feedback, almost all sellers would automatically leave negative feedback. The feedback system was completely useless because of this. The current system is better, but obviously not perfect.

It's times like that I'm glad I don't even have an ebay account.

Then they should remove feedback given to the buyer altogether. I don't have feedback for purchases I make at www.strangebondagegear.com.

By the way, I now specifically write in my auctions that I only leave feedback after the buyer receives the item, inspects it, and leaves feedback so at least they know. I'm not going to give someone positive feedback if they turn out to be a ******bag after the sale. Just because they paid doesn't mean that the transaction is over.
