kid says we should stop cycling and take up jogging

So another cyclist and I are slowly riding back to our cars after riding 200km. A ~10 y.o. kid walking down the street very seriously informs us that we should stop riding bikes and take up jogging. I contemplated turning around and asking him if he could run 125 miles, but decided to ignore. I'm thinking this is a good demonstration of why you shouldn't whine about other road users while your kids are in the car. I don't remember being that rude as a 10 year old, that developed later in life for me.

Whine about road users?

Maybe he was saying you'll get fitter faster or something - most joggers are in the road like bikes are anyway.

Just like some adults, some kids need a swift kick in their not-yet descended balls.

The kid probably couldn't but many people can and do. Maybe he was trying to promote ultramarathon competitions. In the spirit of "HTFU and run the 200kms instead".

Was recently involved in an 18 mo uphill battle to get a new county parks plan to include for the 1st - LEGAL offroading in some of our parks (we won btw - lots of public meetings, speaking out at meetings, petitions, etc ) - and the hikers fought us tooth and nail. Public meetings were grueling as they kept bringing up the same angry points of how unsafe they felt walking on the trails knowing a bicyclists could be on the trail at the same time.

Reason I'm adding this - one man during the last several meetings got up and stated he had been doing research, via internet and pointed out the "fact" that walking is indeed more healthier than bicycling - and he focused on overweight children saying it was unsafe for them to be bicycling especially offroad trying to go up hills.

I thought the owner of a LBS sitting next to me was going to jump through the ceiling. Both legs wiggled back and forth and his face turned beat red - and when he finally spoke - he spoke right to the "well-researched" man - who wouldn't look at him. Idiots.

Sassy kids...not really anything new. That 10 year old was the same mentality as the "well-researched" man Tude just described. He thinks he knows something and feels entitled to declare it. Add in a little audacity and the only cure seems to be a little smacking around. I'm afraid I had my moments as a kid, too. When you know all about dinosaurs and the smartest adults can't even spell Triceratops, it's pretty easy to get an inflated head.

I was helping my little siblings with their 4-H livestock at the fair a couple weeks ago. I was dead tired, so I lay down on some straw bales by a kids play area for a short nap. Soon enough, some rambunctious kids come along playing tag. I grew up in a big family. I can ignore random noise pretty easily, and it's perfectly fair for them to be playing.

"Hey, look at that man there! He's in the kids area.

Hey you! This is the kids area, and you're a grown up."

Grr....directed noise is harder to annoy especially when I can imagine some mother imagining it as them calling out a pervert, but if you ignore kids, they get bored and leave, right? Nope!

They started throwing straw and sawdust on my face. Handfuls of it, and repetitively.

OOooohhhhhhh, I wanted to throttle them, but it's not my place to teach other people's kids manners, and inevitably, someone would have seen it. They stopped throwing stuff when I told them to, but they wouldn't stop pestering me.

So I get up to leave, but they immediately want to know every detail of my life:

"What's your name? How old are you? Do you have a girlfriend? What do you do? How come you're in the kids area? What's your girlfriend's name? Where do you live? Do you live together?"

Do you live together? Why the heck is a perhaps 7 year old kid asking complete strangers questions like that?

Take a washing machine drain hose and flog the miscreant child about the extremities until his cries for mercy echo inside said drain hose. The only way I know to exorcise a blaspheming spirit....

I was in a grocery store, in the 15 items or less line up, behind this moronic woman who had $250 worth of groceries (a cart full) and who let her demon spawn run wild in the store, the little bastards had hair like a cro-magnon, like she hadn't made them bathe or brush their hair in weeks. Anyway, I digress.

She got the little monsters to come to her, but one of the little ****s was rifling through the candy bars in the aisle, throwing them all over the place. I am an ex-cashier and many a time had to clean up behind demon spawn that made a mess so I said to the kid "get your hands out of there." The little knuckle dragger turned and gave me the evilest glare I've ever been subjected to. This kid was maybe 8? not sure. I held his gaze and returned his Evil Glare of Doom until he looked away. I could not believe their behaviour or their oblivious idiot mother that was paying no attention, was in the wrong line up and was pestering the cashier excessively. Holy gods I was incensed. I barely restrained myself from tearing her a new one.

People left the line up it was taking so long, the poor cashier apologized to me when it was my turn, for taking so long. I said "it's not your fault."

the cashier should have told the idiot woman to go to a different checkout. you should have torn the cashier a new one. And it is 15 items or "fewer" for crying out loud. i feel like boycotting those illiterate checkouts.
