I've done it, but had some mixed results. Best results were a bigger bowl, especially if you don't have saran wrap as the stuff will bubble over and make a mess. Couldn't remember timing - but here this sounds about right - but personally I'd do a check on it so it doesn't turn into mush. But - bigger bowl, lots of water is the key.
I found out a good ratio was one cup of pasta to one quart of water,I'm using elbows as an example, for spaghetti it might be less, for penne it might be a little more. It all depends on your taste, I like mine a little aldente. I found that 20 minutes seems to the right amount of time.Use high power on your microwave.
Think how long it takes to cook it on the stove, you have to bring the water to a boil, then add the pasta, then wait for it to boil again, you have to stir it off and on, and the whole process takes more that 20 minutes.You may have to experiment with different times and amounts, but remember, like I said before, use plenty of water.
One of the best things is you don't have to stir it in the microwave, and when it is done, just stir, drain and serve with your favorite sauce. You will love it!
