crack - does it cause brain damage?

I've been (sort of) watching the Whitney Houston interview with Oprah. Whitney seems...off...somehow, her speech isn't quite right in some way. Some of her word choices when she speaks aren't quite right, either. She admits to doing lots of crack (and pot.) Does crack fry the brain like meth does? I don't remember her being like this back when the movie with Costner came out, it's quite disturbing.

You are not quite right after smoking for a long time. From the long timers I know - it kills your teeth (heat) so many don't have front teeth, and before that the cocaine has deviated their septum (in nose) and I know of a case where someone I know quite well who was 35 at the time (from coke) developed a blood clot the size of a quarter that traveled and was pretty much blocking an artery to the heart (he was weeks away from a stroke) that they attributed to excess coke usage - I visited and learned of the problem and thought - that's crazy - till he got out of bed with IV and walked me down to a long time sign at the hospital that showed why cocaine played a big part in younger people's blood clots. He was on pills to dissolve the clot for 1-1/2 years and will be on meds the rest of his life. My ex-husband - huge crack head after I left him did some things I never thought he would do - landed in jail for 6-8, I haven't talked to him in several years (and don't want too) but when I last did he was not the person I knew at all.

My response would have been something along the lines of: "Does your bike have computer controlled suspension? Then shut your piehole, this baby is from the future!"

Yeah, I've seen it before in crack, heroin, and meth users, they never come back right. I particularly love the way Whitney tried to make her crack use seem....OK, when she mentioned (with a face that over flowed with "Oh my! Never! Not me!") that she smoked it in weed, and didn't shoot it! I guess the reply she was looking for was, "Oh! she sprinkled the crack in weed and smoked it! OK! that makes a world of difference!" Dumb *****!
You see, their morals, their code...it's a bad joke, dropped at the first sign of trouble. They're only as good as the world allows them to be. I'll show you. When the chips are down, these...These "civilized" people...they'll eat each other. See, I'm not a monster. I'm just ahead of the curve

Judging by Kanye West I think it is proof that crack causes brain damage.

I smoked crack once and only once. If you want to sit around spend lots of cash and be suspicious your friends are taking you crack, then smoke crack. I prefer the quality drugs like cannabis & mushrooms

I free based once and let me tell ya, it really freaked me out. I agree with you though, MJ is a higher quality drug. It's the only drug that I miss.

All psychoactive drugs mess with your brain and leave long-lasting effects. ALL of them. You become a different person on drugs because your brain is not firing the way it usually does.

including perscription drugs, and **** like asprin and such (not just brain but total health).

How many asprin does it take to kill a person: 10 maybe a few more

how much weed does it take to kill a person: impossible, can't OD on the ganja.

    Which is worse for you?

Yep, all drugs, legal or illegal, leave lasting effects on your brain and body. I'm not against drugs in general--do what you want with your body as long as you're not messing with me and my...um, brownies --I'm just saying they leave effects.

IF a doctor ever perscribed me any type of medication to take on a daily basis I'd probably refuse. I'm totally against pill popping.

My mom had the breast cancer, she survived and now she's on "anti-cancer" drugs. I'm like wtf is an anti-cancer drug, it's total garbage. If they had anti-cancer drugs that worked everyone would be on them. I preffer to preventitive maintenance approach to illness. eat right, exercise, get enough sleep, and don't stress.

It blows out the Dopamine recepters associated with the "pleasure centers" in the brain as well as other permanent adverse effects throught the hipocampus nerve/brain system. Other effects too, including heart valve damage irresptively of having had smoked it or bootin' it.
