Worst. Typhoon. Ever.

http://helpondoyvictims.blogspot.com/

I don't know if you guys have heard it on the news, but the Philippines is suffering from a horrible disaster right now, in the form of typhoon ondoy.

Quote:
Thousands of people fled their homes Saturday as overnight rains brought by tropical storm "Ondoy" caused flooding in wide areas of metropolitan Manila and other provinces of the northern Philippines.

Swollen creeks forced many residents in some communities on to the roofs of their homes and they were calling for help to evacuate, according to local radio reports.

Television news footage showed one flooded road in suburban Quezon City appearing like a raging river. The storm intensified the seasonal monsoon, drenching much of the main island of Luzon where Manila is located, weathermen said.

Most-affected by floods were low-lying areas of the national capital and parts of nearby Rizal province, where at least four children were reported to have been swept away by a swollen creek.

The National Disaster Coordinating Center (NDCC) office for the Southern Tagalog Region said the still unidentified victims were from barangay San Jose in Antipolo City.

Here is a link to the tumblr website that compiled the photos of the disaster.

This one I think is a powerful video of lady stuck in her car and a stranger courageous enough to expose himself to danger to help her.

This collection of pictures gets graphic in the end. The body of a woman who probably drowned in the flood is seen awashed among a bunch of trash.

I have family living in some of the affected areas. Afaik, they were able to get out of the way of the floods, but I haven't heard back from them lately. The Philippines needs some Foo energy! Good thoughts, prayers, etc. are very welcome.

If you'd like to donate, you can do so through red cross or through paypal.

Thanks in advance, Foosters. I know this is a hard time for all of us, but I hope we can do all we can to help.

It's mostly in Luzon. Mindanao should be fine.

But not a good thing. I don't watch television news, or watch the weather channel, but still surprised I hadn't heard of it before this. Hope your family is just wet (but safe).

Have been and will be praying. Listened to news about this on the way to work today. The radio station was raising funds.
