Double ended fire truck!

I was always fascinated by fire trucks as a kid and even at 50 I still think they are pretty cool, so if I see a truck I take special notice.

Well I went out on a ride today and noticed a fire truck across the road. For some reason this one seemed a bit odd. As we passed on another I noticed what I thought was another cab on the back of the truck! I took a double take over my shoulder and it sure looked like a second cab.

I thought for sure I was seeing things. I got home and thanks to the internet, I found that these things are actually demo models. Made by a company named Spartan. They take them to expos and such to show off the various cab configurations.

Just when I thought I have already seen it all.

Because a photo is always called for, otherwise it doesn't exist or it didn't happen...

As noted in the OP's post, it's a one-of-a-kind demonstration vehicle produced by Spartan -- a fire truck manufacturer.

Just looking at the photo you can see where they installed the two different types of cabs they offer on both ends of a standard chassis, where the cab to the right in the photo with the black top is the REAL cab sitting on the front-end of the chassis. The red top cab is sitting over the dual rear tires.

So, unless there was a trade shown or Spartan was on a marketing tour of the region, you probably won't see it.

Does anyone know if these things are drivable from both ends or is the one cab just for show?

Oops I guess TG answered my question above

"the cab to the right in the photo with the black top is the REAL cab"

Thanks again TG. I am sure glad I was not seeing things.

Well I don't think we use Spartan trucks here in SoCal, I believe Pierce is the most widely used. Also I have never been invited to any of the trade shows, booooo.

I believe the actual brand name of Spartan's fire trucks is Crimson Fire.

A double headed Llama has many uses. They graze more grass, spit more spittle, and have two heads to pet. They also can't poop up the lawn, however after a while they can explode, making a terrible mess.

The fire engine with two cabs? To apparently allow the manufacturer to send out one vehicle that lets customers see both the standard Metro Star & top of the line Gladiator Cabs at demos and trade shows.

The two headed llama? To allow amateur photochoppers to recreate the illusion of Dr. Dolittle's fictional two-headed Llama, Pushmi-Pullyu by splicing reversed images together.
