Could I Be Allergic to Tea?

I Googled this, got a lot of hogwash results, so I am turning to the trusted entity of FOO.

I used to drink a lot of Tazo Calm tea a few years ago, even though it made me feel funny; mild sore throat, etc. But I drank it anyway.

Last night, I drank some Calm tea for the first time in a few years. I got to the bottom of the cup and drank the junk that came out of the tea bag, too, even though it was very little.

Within a few moments, my throat hurt very badly and I got a mild fever. The fever didn't last long, but my throat still hurts 13 hours later.

Or maybe I am getting sick and it's just a coincidence with the tea, even though I used to feel funny a few years ago after drinking it.

Any thoughts from the tea crowd here?

These are the ingredients of Tazo Calm:

Chamomile Flowers, Hibiscus Flowers, Spearmint Leaves, Lemongrass, Rose Petals, Blackberry Leaves, Safflower, Peppermint Leaves, Sarsaparilla Root, Lemon Balm Leaf, Licorice Root and Natural Flavors.

Could you be allergic to one or several of these components?

Very interesting articles! I found it interesting (the CNN one) that I have those allergies listed, but none of the food allergies associated with them.

Neko: I didn't even think of checking the ingredients (I didn't have that much time anyway), but it's funny I like Calm tea to start with since I can't stand any of those ingredients, usually! That is interesting, too!

I have seasonal allergies, and every once in a while I'll have some random reaction to chamomile, tomatoes or soy - swollen, scratchy throat, sinus problems.

Allergies are funny things and can pop up unexpectedly. My doctor told me once, after my hands had swollen up to bright itchy red sausages, that we can develop allergies to something we expose ourselves to regularly. If we stop the exposure and then start again, even if it's only a matter of weeks, sometimes you'll develop an allergy to it.
