Fresh shredding, or Punk Rock Greensleeves

Me screwing around this morning (Friday) on my new Ibanez Jet King 2 - set on front, humbucker mode, Vox modeling amp on clean boutique but then shoving the signal through a Digitech Hardwire Metal Distortion, Digital Delay and Chorus...

This is "Punk Rock Greensleeves". There was no effort on my part in terms of trying to 'play well' as this IS punk rock... at about 1:32 am at one of the very marginal alternative clubs in Midtown Sacramento, after the crowd (whats left of it) is soaked in way too much cheap beer...

Cover your ears!

Well the music was pretty cool but your hair is too short and you didn't thrash your head wildly about or slam the instrument against the bike.

FAIL!!

you need a longer guitar strap...it should hang around your knees for proper shredding

Thanks everyone. Um, I don't have smoker's voice like EVH... and tapping is something I haven't mastered. I kind of don't see a POINT to mastering it because there are so many people that do it *well* and this is just a hobby for me.

I'm actually going to start taking formal lessons after I get back from Mexico in two weeks. But jazz. I haven't had formal lessons since I was 18 (and I'm 48 on November 12th). Played in jazz band - big band - all through high school and up through my 1st semester of my sophomore year in college. I can read chord charts, single lines (but not perfect), but I really need to shake up my playing and I've got a local pro guitarist that has heard me play a lot at the Tuesday night jam session (he's the house band guitarist) who's going to help me with some serious woodshed time.

Somewhere, there is a 10th grade school ID where I weigh close to 180# (152# now), with a Prince Valiant haircut touching my shoulders. That ID is buried very deeply in the Old Personal Crap Box in the garage...

When you say "front" pickup, do you mean the neck or bridge? They're both on the front

Neck LOL

Actually, I like the single coil mode a bit better on non-distortion. Its very clean. Sounds like a strat but better!

I love it. By far the best small amp I've ever owned. I'd buy the 100 watt version (I have the 30) if I were gigging in something louder than a jazz combo regularly.

My next instrument after the next, which will be an electric bass. But if I get a whammy, it'll be a guitar with a Rose clamp so I can stand on that SOB and have it stay in tune.

Your playing is good. Trust me, I've heard *far* worse in concerts I've paid $15 cover for.

The whole thing was ruined for me by the NDS bike in the little front big rear combo.

Really? I think there's nothing more ridiculous than an aging rock star (+45) wearing a leather outfit and tats everywhere. I don't think the Bondage/Trailer Trash look - that I could pull that off.

Heh. Taking it easy on the knee, I always shift to an easier gear just before I bring the bike in the house...
