Ever had a dream affect the rest of your day?

Ever had the contents of a dream/nightmare you had affect the rest of your day?

Yep. More than once. Nasty nightmares in particular...

I had a nightmare a few nights ago about a psycho with a knife trying to stab me, I fended him off but he turned and knocked down some lady, stabbed her in her stomach. ick ick ick.

Almost happened today. Camped out last night and had the "going to a strange bathroom to pee" dream. It hasn't happened in many, many years, but doing it without a change, and hiking 5 miles with a soaked sleeping bag would have definitely traumatized my day.

Yep, I'll have a vivid dream about a dead family member or beloved pet and spend
the whole day trying to shake a profound sense of personal loss.

I had a vivid dream that my grandpa was really sick and passed away. My mom texted me that morning, with the news that Grandma had a stroke.

For a few years, at around the same time of year, I would have a vivid dream about an old friend who took his own life. Always really frightening, didn't feel like a "normal" dream/nightmare. I would be scared for the rest of the day, usually, and call my friends so we could go visit him at the cemetary because I felt as though he was trying to communicate with us.

I've also had dreams that were so real, I woke up trying to find the item that I thought I had bought or had in the house.

It's very far and in between that I remember a dream the morning after I have a dream.

I think these sorts of dreams are actually fairly common. I still remember the really terrible dream I had after my father died and I had to tell him he couldn't come to Thanksgiving dinner because he was dead. I've had a few dreams about a close friend who died very young and I miss terribly. These dreams make me feel good when I'm having them and bad when I wake up and realize that they were just dreams and my friend is still dead.

So, yeah, it's possible for a dream to leave an emotional hangover, as it were.

That's when I wished the dream never ended. Which is why I try for lucid dreaming.

I had a dream about 2 weeks ago that my parents were talking about how my uncle had died and then later said to me that 'oh yea we didn't want to bother you, its not a big deal'.

Then a week later I was talking to my mum about my uncle and his condition and his doctor and shes like 'yea he died last week'. I was so shocked, though about 5 seconds later I was able to work out it was his doctor who died. Lucky call (not for the doctor).

I always have this dream where i am walking up these really narrow dark stairs and then try to take a step back and no step is there and I fall. I wake up straight away, its been happening probably twice a month for a few years now.

Every now and then I get these scary nightmares. They usually affect my day if I haven't been sleeping properly. Since my morning ride is always in the dark, the slightest sound makes me jumpy and I hightail it in to work. Sometimes I won't even ride the bike and just drive that day.

I haven't had a nightmare in years. Some dreams affect the rest of my day. Mainly just trying to figure out what it means and what not.

Not as great as you think Siu, sometimes I can do it, sometimes I wish I couldn't as you can't always control it, and those that say they can are kinda full of poop.

Pffft, I've had the contents of a dream/nightmare I had affect the rest of my life. Several times.

The ones that weren't nightmares were freakin' awesome!

Usually I'm dreaming about my granddaddy in those dreams, though I can't remember exactly what we were doing in the dream.

Y'all may be aware that I'm going through some personal difficulties right now. A few nights after all that got started, I had a very vivid dream that seemed to culminate in seeing and getting to visit just about every pet our family had ever had during my childhood and young adulthood. We had some dogs, but it's always the cats that leave an impression on me. We had one cat who was so sweet to all of us. My parents got her just after they got married and she lived until I was in 8th grade, and I remember her being prominent in this dream. Talk about waking up with a profound sense of sadness and loss... It shook me to my very soul. I shared it with my mother the following day, and she said it sounded like a dreamstate reminder of the pain I was and still am feeling. It makes me sad to think about it even now.
