Help me sleep

Alright Foo. I am desperately in need of all of your best go to sleep/stay asleep methods/remedies/elixirs. I need to be well rested before the weekend. I just cannot go to sleep at night. When I do finally get to sleep, I am awake again 4 hours later. So, let me hear them. I NEED some sleep!

For me and numerous others that I know I have introduced this to enough Magnesium is essential for good sleep. I use Magnesium like others use sleeping tablets. Magnesium is the mineral your body NEEDS in order to relax. Your muscles use Calcium to contract and Magnesium to relax so it wouldn't hurt to cut back on your dairy consumption too. Particularly before bed.

Now, there is something I need to tell you about taking Magnesium supplements. If you take too many you will have lose bowel movements. If this happens just take less. Avoid prolonged consumption at levels that cause bowel problems but don't be so afraid of it that you take too little. It can take a little while for you to build up enough Magnesium in your body to really relax before sleep and when you have built up your levels enough you can back off on the supplementation.

Trazodone 100Mg pills, 3 of those and 6 beers of your choice. Just be sure to eat well BEFORE taking the pills. They make you so sleepy that is almost impossible to consciously control the little muscle in your throat that switch from eating mode to breathing mode. You gonna be stuck with breathing mode.

You will still wake up in the middle of the night (the beers have to exit your body)... go pee and get right back to bed.

I would suggest a phone call with UA. I'm sure that will help put you to sleep.

Visit your doc and get a prescription for Ambien. They have generics now, so we pay $4 a month. If you do it right, you only need one or two a week, to help supplement crappy days. Though you can use it continuously (wife has used it every night for like two years now).

Plus, look up the "perks" of ambien...

The trick is to ignore jsharr peering through the window holding a big butcher's knife.

Part of the problem is the lack of Colorado Boy until the weekend.

Wait! Only 2 shots? Is it possible to overdose?

I'm certain that this little bout of insomnia has nothing to do with my magnesium level, but this is some good information. Thanks!

Interesting. I'm not sure I can get on board with mixing pills and alcohol, though.

Tried that last night. Apparently this only makes the symptoms worse.

Then, by all means, I suggest a visit to MV after that phone call.....I guarantee a good nights sleep after a romp or two.

Get UA to give you a full on sensual body massage, it will either put you to sleep or make you feel anxious (if you know what I mean! ) either way UA should work! (OK UA, I set you up as promised, I take cash only.)

It is most certainly stress and we know that whether that is good or bad it can affect our sleeping patterns.

I really feel that bedrooms are for sleeping in and should not include too many distractions like a laptop, television, etc.

Make sure you aren't deficient in your diet and make sure you get enough daily exercise... when I can't sleep a hard ride can do wonders and there are other kinds of riding that also can lead to restful sleep.

Avoid the drugs if you can.

Melatonin has CURED my insomnia. It's a natural substance that gives you "restful" sleep. 2 milligrams sublingual (under the tongue) at bedtime and I sleep like a baby.

It changed my life. Best wishes.

Yeah - Google "Ambien sex", and have fun reading. The "perks" are really more for whoever is close to you at the time.

I just noticed your other post about french press coffee makers. hmmm...

Maybe cut down on the caffeine, especially if you are drinking coffee in the late afternoon or early evening.

I used to have a lot of sleep problems, and here's a few of the things I did to quell them...

- As someone mentioned, the bedroom is for sleeping or sexing. Don't put your mind into a pattern of being awake in bed by sitting up and reading, watching TV, playing video games, etc.

- No caffeine after lunch. (I actually cut back to 1 cup of coffee, if any at all)

- Don't exercise within 60 minutes of going to bed. Body and mind are still riled up, makes it difficult to sleep.

- Don't eat within 2 hours of going to sleep. (I'm not saying go to bed hungry; rather, don't go to bed full.)

Winner! I think I still have my accounting textbook. If not, I think that Physical Chemistry book was a snoozer, too.

I stop drinking coffee at lunch time (which is at 10:30 for me).
