Thank you. It's called a "Cylinder-top" desk. It's NOT a "rolltop." I was inspired by a picture of a desk built for Marie Antoinette and decided to build a desk from scratch.

I made EVERYTHING for that desk from raw lumber. I sawed, surfaced, cut, joined, etc the case. I cut the veneer myself and glued it onto the exterior too. I turned and carved the legs too. There are no "man made" materials in the desk - everything is solid wood including the drawers (complete with dovetails). Solid Brass hardware (not plated).

The writing surface is black granite. The dark wood is air dried Walnut. The light wood is Red Alder (yes the stuff they smoke salmon with). The desk has 3 hidden compartments (No I'm not telling).

I will argue that all of Brazil is pretty flippin' nice. Even the dirt-poor northeast (We spent a week in Fortaleza after Rio and Foz do Iguacu) has great weather and fabulous beaches. Even Iguacu was great... but this is all OT.
