Does Spam taste like bacon or ham?

Had this argument on another thread - thought I would check out what you all think. I think it tastes closer to ham although Spam is in its own category. Modovincere thinks it's closer to bacon. Bacon, being the perfect food, I believe is nothing like Spam.

What are your thoughts?

NOTHING like bacon. It's like really, really, really, really bad processed ham shavings glued together with congealed gelatin.

I think you need to be a bit more specific in this. There's lots of different bacons out there. I was referring to salt cured bacon. Not smoked, not brown sugar, etc.

Back in the day, I had my share of fried spam sandwiches and that thing that my mom made with spam and cloves and some sort of glaze/sauce. Kids will eat anything.

I don't know bacon does have different flavor but is still bacon. I can honestly say I have never had bacon that taste like spam! Thus the reason I posted this thread...

My initial answer to the question in the title before reading the post was "No!"

But which is closer? I think ham...

This would seem to be consistent with my understanding that SPAM = SPiced hAM

As long as you didn't try to send a spam "care pkg" along with the foamies, I don't mind your eccentricities. You're still a wonderful person in my book.

BTW, I wore out the door on my mailbox by Wednesday night looking to see if the pkg was there yet. No dice and I had to leave town to avoid the mail-lady's ire about the mailbox door being off its hinges. So, if my mail-lady decides to get off her lardy butt and actually deliver the foamies I probably won't know about it until next week. I mean, sheesh, it's already been like 3 days or sumpin and I'm STILL "waiting patiently" for them to get here.

Er... sent them just today, actually, since by the time I got out of work these past couple of days the post office was closed, and I don't trust leaving packages out by the door for the mailperson to pick up. Don't worry, no spam there though!
