The Fam Damily will be having two turkeys, lots of traditional stuff (sweet potatoes, stuffing, etc). The fun part for yours truly is I'm frying one of the birds. Mmmmmm.

not a darn thing - going to SIL where they will have the same plain fare they always do. Personally I'd like to rebel and stay home and throw a duck in the oven, but my Mom wants a travel companion so that's me.

I am not making Turkey... I hate turkey and every year I've made it. I can't even stand the smell! This year, I'm taking back control and making something I like to eat...

menu:

Fresh Brisket slow braised until tender
mushroom gravy
mashed potatoes
candied carrots
green beans with bacon and mushrooms

dessert: pineapple upside down cake and fresh whip cream

Not traditional at all... other than green bean casserole can't say I like any traditional Thanksgiving food.

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Rebel!

love mushroom gravy!! Unfortunately not one person in my family is a fan of shrooms!

At work we have a big affair - for the Holiday - Dec. 7th this year - with the Deans throwing in the meat - roast beef, TURKEY and a huge ham and we all bring a dish to pass. Amazing at some of these little 2 & 3 cup tupperware bowls of stuff coming from some - but I normally bring something funky. Haven't decided on the "very different" dish to bring this year. Heh - always the first to the list of some of the people bringing in a small thing of napkins or a couple liters of pop, hehe. And then there are the "over-doers" (much like me) who bring in a casserole of stuff. I work with a diversity of people at work and I must say some of the Jamaican, Mexican, Puerto Rican (especially the beans & rice), Asian and African dishes are sooo wonderful!

Great meal!!!!

Unfortunately, the afternoon bog down from tasting a little from each dish really needs a nap afterward!

We will likely do what we've done the past two years... make a smorgasboard similar to a party tray and nibble at it. There's only the two of us so there's no reason to make a huge feast we can't eat all of.

Tude... since my family is of mix race, we have all sorts of good stuff. Yeah there's the turkey and ham but also trays of sushi and sushi rice, enchiladas, eggplant parmesan (actually one of my favorites), jambalaya etc.

The point of the holiday is to be with friends and family... and apparently to eat until sick but that's another issue!

And who doesn't like mushrooms? Oh my gosh, I put them in everything! OK they won't be in the cake, but everything else!
