Hats

Ok, so I got a sudden interest in hats. I used to not be much of a hat person until I browsed through the Brixton site upon recommendation of a friend. I fell in love with the Hooligan. It screams "Me". I ordered it and it just came in today. I've been all over town with it. It's now my go-everywhere hat. I just need a black one now. Lets see some favorite hats!

Ernest, you should check the Fedora Lounge for lots of great hat info!

I love hats but I have a size 8 jughead. I had to special order my bike helmet, a Bell Titan.

It pains me to see a display of hats and not one fits. Whenever I do find one that fits (seldom), I tend to buy it.

Those hats look great on you guys, even though BlaaaAAaaAAaaArRrrRRRgh! is proving a point that more isn't necessarily better.

Luddite you look mighty sharp in that hat. Women look dah sexah with black western hats. I'll wear my Stetson Gus in the summertime. The brim is wide enough to protect 2 people from the sun! Thanks for the link, Pgoat.

Since I started going bald in my mid-20's and shaving my head ten years ago, I have quite the wide selection of hats. But since I need either a 7 5/8 or 7 3/4 size, it is hard to find hats that fit. I usually take an XL or XXL depending on the brand.

I wear a Fedora during the winter here. It keeps my shaved head all toasty, and the wifey thinks it looks cool (personally I think I look like a dork in it!)

I wear a vented Outback hat when it's 25 degrees or hotter, and a face mask otherwise.

I have a Tilley, T3, and absolutely love it. It's my favorite fishing, lawnmowing, sitting in the sun hat. Nice wide brim, shrinkproof heavyweight cotton, waterproof, floats, launders wonderfully, brim snaps in up position on both sides, two drawstrings, lightweight, ventillated, comfortable, guaranteed forever, etc. It's a wonderful hat for protecting you from the sun.

Whenever we go fishing together, my wife always claims and steals it......

Got this hat embroidered around the time I was officially recognized as a US citizen. Half-breed and proud of it.

Jolleen, that wide brimmed hat is too damn cute on you!

Pgoat, great fedoras.

Brave, those hats are so comfy...

Luddite, great taste in your headwear!

I have a little driving cap that I like. I started wearing hats after I cut my hair. Pic of it and the getup I wear with it to come after I get back from the pool.

I have to be careful when buying western hats. My head is more wide than round! So I can't wear "Oval" like normal people, it wouldn't go on my head! I can only wear "Round Oval". I love the hooligan I bought and plan to get a couple more.

I wear one of these:

when I'm wearing a coat w/ no hood, or a baseball hat under the hood if I do have one.

I have 2 cowboy hats (one wool, one straw) but can't seem to fit into them so much

two well kept Fedora secrets:

1. if you want the best hat of that type for $100 or less the word is Akubra - they are supposed to have the best felt at that price point by far. I still am wanting one. You need to order them from Australia, from whenst they came.

2. well, that one is such a good secret, I shall perhaps be greedy and keep it to myself....

I've done the ebay thing...you can get much nicer vintage hats for way less than what a meh new hat will cost you, but you have to go through a few bad ones to get a good one. Hidden surprises (not good surprises) about Size, condition, etc....I am so done with ebay....

I lost my wool fedora a few weeks ago. I've been wearing that hat in winter for two decades. I think I went to a restaurant and put it on the chair seat next to me and left it. I go to restaurants 2-3 times a week and can't remember where. Possibly a BBQ joint. Wah. I loved that hat. I have a size 7 7/8 head and hats that fit me are hard to find.

So now I've been wearing a glen plaid wise guy hat like big e's above.

Big-e - Those Brixton hats are awesome. Especially the new one; completely badass looking. Suit, skinny tie and a violin case, and I bet people would cross the street when they see you coming.

Here's my Surly wool cycling cap, and my tribute to Yehuda Moon:
