Got Into A Confrontation This Afternoon ... Now Regret It

With only a mile left on today's ride I ran into 3 punk kids vandalizing a new construction home. The development is off a quiet road near my house and the new home has been vacant for over a year and has been
vandalized several times. I believe the development is now owned by a bank but it is in a nice area where homes typically start @ $500K. I ride by the development several times a week and have been annoyed that
it has become a magnet for punk kids up to no good so when I ran into these idiots in the middle of the day I just reacted. I aggressively road up to them shouting expletives and telling them the police were on there
way although I hadn't actually called the police . They immediatley jumped in their cars (I'm guessing they were around 20) but foolishly drove the wrong way into the development which has no outlet.
About a minute late they came back in my direction and while the first car tore past me the second car stopped and the kid threatened me. I was really juiced on adrenaline at this point so I went back at him with a
expletive filled tirade and he took off. Now that I have calmed down I really regret that I just didn't call the police and let them handle it. I ride all the time in this area and now am concerned that I will run into these guys
again and they might do something stupid like try to run me off the road etc. I'm already paranoid about teenage texting drivers running me over and now I have the added concern of dealing with the local deliquents.
Adrenaline and testosterone got the better of me today .... I hope I don't live to regret it.

If you have license plate numbers & descriptions I would still call the police....get it on record just in case something does happen in the future....

It's middle class, surely not homes of 20yr olds who go around to vandalize, unless they're still living with their parents. But honestly, what's the point of vandalizing? What do you get out of it?

But yeah, don't sweat it that much. Kids who usually vandalize are all talks. Those who actually "back up" what they're saying, would be spending their time a lot more wisely, for example, dealing or making quick cash, etc. (I assume lol)

$500K will get you a 4000 sq ft home on an acre of property in a nice development.

Carry a semiautomatic pistol and extra magazine.

Better to spray lead than pepper.

So they parked right in front of the house? Sounds like the development should consider 24hr on-site security or at least request that the PD make frequent and regular drives through there given the history of vandalism.

Regardless, you know what you'd do differently now. If I witnessed this, I'd ride by and make the necessary call after I had enough information and was out of the vandals' view. Cops are trained, authorized, and paid to deal with these folks.

So being a 20 year old kid, I would say dont worry about it to much. Most kids if they choose to vandalize something and are smart about it ( most vandalizers arent ) choose to to do that sort of thing away from their own house so they are less likely to have it pinned on them. If they can drive then it is a definite possibility that they werent from around there so they did it some where far away from their area of residence so they dont get caught. And i dought they would do anything to you. Most are all bark and no bite.

For $500,000 in Vegas, you can probably buy the Bellagio.

Zillow says Casa Cad atop Mt. Doom is worth $590K or so. Down from the peak a couple of years ago when it might have fetched close to $800K. 45 miles from the GW Bridge in NY City exurbia. Bumfck NY, but not Outer Bumfck NY. That's where Grumpy lives.

So it goes. The important thing for anyone who owns a $500K house is having a mortgage that is <$500K.

So the median price of homes sold doubled in Q1 '09 compared to Q4 '08? Huh?
