I need to play hooky

Ever get that feeling? Work's been a b**ch lately and I didn't get much time to ride over the Thanksgiving holiday. I'm thinking Tuesday or Wednesday calling in sick and going for a ride. What do you think?

I've got to stop opening up these types of threads. They just remind me why North American businesses are losing ground against the rest of the world. Enjoy your day off. I'm sure someone at your work will pick up the slack.

Sometimes work is hard. My relative worked 18 hours on black friday, came home for 10 hours and went back again for another 8.

Sounds like you need a little vacation, too. Stop on by. After the ride I know a good place to catch some cats and maybe a walleye or two.

Sounds like fun. But then I'd take an actual vacation day.

Maybe it's my toothache pain, or maybe it's the fact that I have to answer for why work isn't completed on schedule at work when I know employees are playing hooky, but I don't think it's acceptable to screw over the company that's paying you a wage. If they treat you badly, then get another job. If you truly need a stress break, then take a vacation day, or take stress-leave.

I had, I stress "had", an employee that called in sick for a week. About a month later, she let it slip out that they had a wonderful time at their cottage during the specific dates she was supposed to be sick.

Oh alright, I guess. I'll put in for a personal day.
I can always play hooky next spring when the weather warms up.

Ata boy. Just remember to post in advance of taking your spring hooky day to give me a chance to sway your decision again Btw, I'd be game for the walleye, but not catfish. Not a fan of bottom-feeders.

I haven't played hooky in a year. At that time, I was working weekends and 70hr weeks. The moment I could, I took off. I didn't feel guilty and the company is still in business.

I still lost a week and a half worth of vacation by not having the opportunity to use it. I only lost 4 days this year.

I'm just a lowly substitute teacher. If I don't want to work that day cause I want to ride and it looks nice outside, I don't answer the phone. I don't get paid, but I get to ride and nobody dies and nothing is held against me.

My wife may get mad, but if I do some quick and easy project around the house and make it sound like a major undertaking, then everything is good.

I played hooky two days from school, but I fried my back so I couldn't go riding/take pictures/do much aside from Latin homework.
