Foods that you can't stand

Not really about dishes that you find offensive or disgusting. More about the foods that you ate so much of as a child, you now refuse to eat it.

For me, it's tomato soup.

What's yours?

always hated tomato soup. Add to that tomato/vegetable juice and the horrible tomato juice with clam guts in it...eww!!

I hate:

Cilantro
Beets
Grapefruit
(usually)Coffee
Beer
Radiccio(sp)
Artificial almond flavouring
Maraschino Cherries
Beets
Deep fried tofu (other applications I like)
Squash (generally)
Ginger (started to hate it as an adult, hate it more with each passing year)
Cough syrup (will not use it.)
****take mushrooms
Other weird/disgusting mushrooms, will only eat button mushrooms
Canned peas (horrid!)
Dragon fruit (revolting)
Guava (yuck)
ETA: I forgot seafood
Pork chops
Meatloaf
Tunafish casserole
Grilled Cheese sandwiches

You may have figured out that I'm a super taster, if so, you would be correct.

I hate:

Cilantro (You must explain yourself with this one.)
Beets (Roasted beets are the steak of veg)
Grapefruit (? The smell - before cutting even - is enough to brighten my spirits for the day)
(usually)Coffee (Yeah we're nothing alike here - which ones do you like?)
Beer (Also makes sense, I like lots of hoppy beers that taste like grapefruit and dark ones that taste like coffee)
Radiccio(sp) (Mmm for bitter greens)
Artificial almond flavouring (WE AGREE ON ONE!)
Maraschino Cherries
Beets
Deep fried tofu (other applications I like)
Squash (generally)
Ginger
Cough syrup (will not use it.)
****take mushrooms
Other weird/disgusting mushrooms, will only eat button mushrooms
Canned peas (horrid!)
Dragon fruit (revolting)
Guava (yuck)

And by super taster you mean...? I don't mean to be (totally) trite, I just wondered if that's a technical term I'm unaware of.

As a post script it is interesting that in real life, if you said that, I would have sort of made fun of you for it (Severe ADHD + messed up internal editing mechanism). But here on the internet I'm polite and calculated. Hmm. Shoots my "internet as road rage" theory down.

Honestly I can say one of the few things I dislike is turkey.

Just not a big fan. Gets instantly cold no matter what you do. Guaranteed to be dry-as-a-bone. Tastes to me like chicken does when its no good anymore.

Needless to say, I had a good past week.

I have more taste buds than non super tasters, so things taste much more intense to me, ergo I loathe anything with a hint of bitterness. Cilantro tastes horrible to me, like soap or something.

The smell of lamb meat alone makes me feel ill. I've never eaten it though, been a vegetarian for 20 years.

22% of the population of the planet cannot eat Cilantro, because of this. It's actually a known genetic predisposition and they've even identified the gene.

Cauliflower. I dunno why, I just don't like it.

Gut meats. Hearts, Livers, Tripe, Etc. Yeeecch.

I thought I didn't like sweet potatoes, but on TG day I had some that was not covered with sugar or mushmellers. I'll have to explore them further. It was good.

I'm not much of a fan of peas either, unless they are alone with butter on them. Peas do not belong in other food. I do like raw peas.

I love raw carrots, but cooking them just ruins them.

Cilantro tastes like soap to me as well, but I can tolerate a little.

I don't like mutton and lamb is very dependant on the preparation.

I don't like dark meat chicken or dark meat turkey, but I like duck which is all dark meat.

Over the last few years I lost my liking for beef. At the same time my pituitary finally failed and really messed me up. After I went to a endocrinologist and got onto the right pills and shots, I began to like beef again. odd huh?

I like cinnamon on baked goods, and hate it in/on anything else, such as French Toast.

Really interesting... My sister thinks I'm nuts because I can't eat anything if it has even a hint of Cilantro on it... I guess I might be in that category.

A few things...

Grapefruit... Not sure how anyone can eat something this bitter
Mushrooms... Just the smell of them cooking makes me want to vomit
As others have mentioned... Cilantro
Rosemary on anything
Beer... Especially Guinness - disgusting to my taste buds.
Most seafood which people can't believe since I live in New England

I hate dill pickles. However, I never liked them as a kid.
Thus, my answer is hamburgers. Bleh.

Liver

oh... wait... the thread title says food... and liver isn't food - it sponge that's been steeped in toxic waste.

carry on.

I ate it exactly three times when I was a child - which for liver, seems like a lot. I also reversed the peristalsis each of those three times.

Real food on the other hand... not a big fan of tuna salad.

Oatmeal

Both an acquired aversion from a lot of bike touring.
