    Smart meter

I hear a lot about the Smart Meter jacking up people's bill up to three times what it would usually be for that particular month.

I just want to say that not only did I not see an increase, I saw a DECREASE. I'm always trying to do the best I can to conserve home energy and I just opened my first winter bill. Although the heater has been left on during the nights (Not by me, I get up out of my sleep to shut it off) I think we did pretty good. My bill was $63....last year at this time it was probably around $200.

    YAY Smart Meter!!!

Low? Looks like we used almost the same kwh. Not bad considering it's all electric. I have four people in this house. This was my total bill. I know we could have done better if they didn't have the heater on or leave things on when they leave.

K, so I'm out for the first time in a long time being totally on my own - since like the late 70's or something. And I plan on keeping everything off or low, no OFF - personally I prefer a cooler atmosphere any way. So first month here in 2 bedroom spacious place (with full basement) was decent in the Summer to Fall - September $50 and read (hell I'm a single person - I'm certainly not doing big meals, etc and prefer grill, etc), 2nd month - November - bad Tude - didn't read and so I got the previous guy's average -- $130. grr.

Read mine for this past month though and it was $72 - k - I can live with that - Want under $100 for this place (as I encompassed into my ways and means committee with the brain on getting this place ..) and I did run the heat several times last month - and even falling to sleep (BAD ME) with lights and heat on - ugh).

But I'm back on my no heat rule - see - I live in an "enveloped" ? townhouse thingee where there are 9 units and three of the units have doors to the outside only (the other of us have back doors and decks too) and they travel upstairs to where they live on the 2nd and 3rd story floors).

BUT to my benefit ... I have two small furnaces and two - not sure - they're not 20 gallon, but if they are - mine sucks, water heaters in my own personal basement and so that rather heats me --- and for having the other tenants around me - KEWL, no worries about pipes here bursting - I haz enough stuff working to keep me going.

I'm not intending on being a scrooge - but maybe I am - I live on a budget and huge heating bills would kill me.

Smart Meter, never heard of it, now I feel so STUPID!
I think its disgusting and terrible how people treat Lance Armstrong, especially after winning 7 Tour de France Titles while on drugs!

I can't even find my bike when I'm on drugs. -Willie N.

Smart meters measure and record your electricity hour by hour (actually every 15 minutes) for each day. As the actual cost of electicity varies hour by hour, the smart meters allows you to be charged the actual cost, not a average monthly cost. It allows people to choose to use less energy when it is expensive such as summer afternoons, and shift some usage to when costs are lower, such as summer nights. Most smart meters are also read remotely, so a meter reader doesn't have to come to your house and play hide and seek with your lovable 100 pound puppy.

I wish they made a smart reader for people.

I think you were just too electrifying. It couldn't handle it.
