Spent a good amount of the day cleaning and purging. I was able to donate a lot (about 20 or so) home made blankets to the animal shelter. They need them badly. And these were all smaller ones - I'd say two of them equal a twin size blanket) so the size is perfect for the cages. Also was able to donate a lot of things to the hospice second hand store. I can't believe how many new things I got rid of today. A lot of them still had tags on them.

I found out yesterday that I actually have a titanium plate. Not the stainless steel one he said he would put in.

That might explain the $4.5K for the plate. The screws were $5.5k and there was a couple hundred bucks tied up in disposable drill fixtures.

There's one in the mall, thankfully only one. And can't think of another one real close to the mall either, at least a free-standing one, probably one tucked into another one of the office buildings in the area.

Just got back from a good ride and a trip over to the pub (in bike clothes!!) for dinner and a beer. Recovery food, yeah, that's it.

It's warmed up. It's about 17C and fine.

Oh and it's an hour and half to the weekend.:

yeah, but you don't have be surgically bonded to the Moots. I'd guess that a fair portion of that plate price...

... is actually profit margin. Although I guess the requirements for sterile manufacture and packaging together with the custom machine adds a bit to the cost.

You want Ti. SS and you can't have a MRI ever again and airport security becomes a serious hassle.

Soooo glad the weather has been a lot better than it has. Planning on riding the new bike again tomorrow. I finally was able to ride it for the first time since I got it a couple of weeks ago. I really had a great time.

Gonna try to pry myself out of bed and get out there early.

Hopefully I'll be able to ride every day after work if the sun doesn't set too early.

It was in the mid 70's here today - just beautiful. It's supposed to cool off a bit and the rain is forecast for Monday. You should have good weather the next couple of days - no excuse not to ride!

Just got home from the Dallas Stars game. It was the single most amazing sporting event I have ever seen. Mike Modano, Jere Lethinen and Marty Turco all playing in what is most likely their last home game. Modano assisted on the first goal, scored the game tying goal late in the game and when the game went to overtime and then a shoot out, he scored on his attempt. The crowd was on its feet screaming and applauding and crying and yelling in a crazy tumult of joy, elation, admiration and remembrance.

At one point in the game, the applause was so great that the game came to a halt. ALL the players were banging their sticks on the boards or the ice. The officials were applauding, the fans were applauding and Modano was in tears. It was a very moving moment and one that I am glad to have been privileged to witness. Got to share it with my brother as well, which made it even more special.

Emotional attachment. ahh. Still you are not actually glued and screwed to the seat, pedals and handlebars.

It's the weekend.

And the weather forecast is for fine autumnal weather.

Sitting and wondering about potential solutions to my wheel problem...

C&V bike I've stripped down and started to rebuilt has cracks near the eyelets on one rim. This threatens the economic viability of the desired result.

Duct tape is always the answer.

No wait. Don't listen to me. I don't know anything about bikes.

Say know to crack? Can you find a new rim and have the wheel relaced? I stupidly sold my old Trek 1000, actually I traded it in for credit on a new bike when I had eyelets begin to fail. Will always regret that move.

had a really good ride last night. 28mi @ 17.2, just what I needed for a prelude to the longer weekend rides. Finished off the evening with a stop at the pub for a big greasy burger and good conversation with friends I hadn't seen in a while (they all got too fast on the bike for me!).

JonnyHK - that wheel wouldn't be a 36h tubular would it? I've got a couple spare rims I'd be willing to part with for the cost of shipping.

Duct tape has more places to work then just the bike....would you like me to demonstrate on you?
