Getting bummed about the forecast. Had a nice little Silver Comet ride planned for tomorrow. Looks like its gonna be stormy.

Chilling after spending the day doing one of my favourite things... have spent the last two afternoons at a local charity building up bikes for needy kids.

Used to do this a lot before I fragged the back and since things have been quiet here decided to go and lend a hand since this is the time of year they have trouble meeting demand.

Nothing like seeing the smiles of children when they come to get their new bikes which are put together with careful attention by some pretty talented and experienced mechanics who have been volunteering there for many many years.

These are some of the nicest and most generous people I have ever had the pleasure to work alongside...

Fortified by four scrambled egg whites on whole wheat toast washed down with Starbucks Pike Place Roast, I am now ready to gather round me my merry band of misfits and head off to gird the hoary beasts that verily do dwell in the Zoo of Dallas. I bid thee adieu my hearty brethren and will think fondly of the times we shared, for the chance exists that I may not live out the day. Godspeed to you all.

I need some hub cleaners... if your bagel grows hair, you should probably send me one.

Hey Modo, I'm going to need you to go ahead and have a report on those bagels for tomorrow morning, with the TPS cover sheet, mmkay?

Bite me
They are good....I suck at rolling a bagel, but the bagels taste good.

Kicked some bootie today on our shop fixtures. Sorry, didn't take pics, but I will once the new shop is open.

Next is trimming them out, putting a finish on them, then on to designing and making bike racks. Believe me, I'm not complaining. It's going to be super sweet to be in a shop full of my work...then telling people, no, I won't build any for you because I don't do that sort of work any more.

Exahusted: 46mi this morning after the rain moved through, followed by an hour and a half in the yard. Followed by a relaxing afternoon and dinner at Chuy's. Guess that last part erased any gains I made with that first part. Oh well, more riding tomorrow!

// looking forward to my vacation up to Portland next week too.

Back from visiting my parents.
I set my alarm so I could go to the dawn parade this morning. unfortunately I hadn't changed my phone off daylight savings. I needlessly got up at 5am on a Sunday.

After the dawn parade, I went to the Golden (St)arches for breakfast and then a ride on Dad's Rudge. The ride down to the lake was fun as there was a nice strong tailwind. The ride back was cruel.

I also have added to my bike collection. I've purchased a (Japanese made) Schwinn Le Tour; A Gresham Flyer ladies three-speed, with working dyno-hub; and a Standish separable bike with a Sachs Duomatic hub.

I will take photos of the bikes when it's daylight.

Can't wait, gnome! I hope you have pics of the parade too!

The knife I had pre ordered and waiting for since Jan finally came it. This run of knives are numbered first productions to a limit of 1,000. Mine was numbered 677 (undesirable - the lower the number the better) and for some reason the price was somehow higher than was expected. He kept telling me that he would give me a break on the price and that I would be happy. He said he would give me the best price in the area. He's an hour drive for me and I had gone to visit the shop several times. Although I have been waiting for it for so long - my knife friends knew this - it was a HUGE disappointment about the price. I had to decline. If I had known that he was going to price it that high I would not have anticipated ownership of it. The 1,000 knives are already spoken for and have been since they were announced. You had to be quick to get yours reserved.

One of my knife buddies who lives about 2 hours away from me saw as this whole thing unfold and offered to help me. He's got a connection and offered to sell me one of his three. Two are brand new, never used or played with. I now have a choice between #131 or #31. Am going to get the knife for close to cost. I'm going to meet a bunch of my knife collector buddies for a lunch time show and tell and will be picking up my new knife.

I think that was pretty cool of him to do for me.

Morning foo.

I'm baking bread and doing laundry. shortly it will be time for coffee and then I go and try on my new contact lenses.

Siu, I couldn't take any pictures of the dawn service as I didn't take a tripod with me and it was held just before dawn broke.

Cooking dinner for the girl.

Wondering when I should use my 3 weeks of leave and 2 weeks of days-in-lieu.
