Used to use it, quality sucked big time. Customer service was rather useless. Was using it with a Comcast 6m/1m connection.

There are better, and cheaper VoIP options out there.

Take a look at PhonePower: http://www.phonepower.com/services/voip/voiphome.aspx

Replaced Vonage with them. They had far better service.

I used to do tech support, and would work from home periodically. Sat on the phone 8 hours a day, and had extensive experience with the local Telco, Vonage, and Phone Power. Phone Power was the best sacrifice of quality vs cost. And you do sacrifice quality by going VoIP.

Wow, I use Vonage and love them (Then again, I have huge amounts of bandwidth available, our local network is fiberoptic, and I have 20 meg upload/download now.

I use them and it's OK, but, at the same time, we're ready to unplug and just have everyone (5 of us plus the dog, cat, lizard and fish) use their individual cellphones. If you have a lot of international calls, VoIP should hang in there, otherwise I'd compare to just enlarging your cell plan to cover.

I'd like nothing more than to see my parents go cellphone-only. The problem is that the reception in this house is very bad; if we drive 1 mile in almost any direction, it's great. This makes long conversations frustrating.

In the house I lease for school, where I like 9 months of the year, I have no land line and don't miss it .

Have to have some sort of home phone for me. Cell phones do not get all that great of reception in our basement apartment.

Personally, I installed Asterisk on a small computer and use Vitelity for the SIP service. Have a Cisco SIP phone for my desk, and an ATA for the cordless phone.

We have used it in our home based business for three years. It has saved us a ton of cash. When we have problems, everyone tries to blame Vonnage, but its usually the local line provider. All you need is high speed internet. We have three lines and a dedicated fax line for $63 a month.

We still use it and it works OK. I think most of the problems we have encountered are due to our dubious internet service. As far as service goes, there really is none. The times my girlfriend and I have called for support they have read us the quick start guides, so not much help. When it works though, it works fine and is a third of the cost of a traditional land line.

It sounds like the internet is really what would cause the service to fail, not necessarily a problem on Vonage's end. We have Comcast's 2nd tier service, which has been extremely reliable for the 8 years or so we've had it. Thanks
