I have been doing this for years. Much better marbling on the larger members of your species. But I find the taste of self loathing to be quite nice, almost worth the tough, stringy poor quality meat that normally is found on the self loathers.

Sure, but the amount of marinating and time for slow braising you'd have to do on the stringy ones make it hardly be worth the trouble.

I do find it ironic that there's a Jillian Michaels ad at the top of this thread. Hardly any fat on her and she does look edible.

I find it amusing that it's the Cadbury Gym... most likely unrelated of course, but they make a lot of candy in the UK.

Shows what they know. Aliens eat healthy. They will eat only lean meat and veggies. So gym denizens and nursing home residents, watch out.

As someone who has struggled with my weight all of my life - I've never been more than 30 or 40 pounds overweight at the very worst - and I know a lot of people here at BF have openly discussed their weight issues quite frankly - I think people really need to get a sense of humor vis-a-vis this ad. If you *want* to be fat, or don't want to take responsibility for it, be up front about it, rather than defensive. It is a personal choice, just like smoking, taking drugs, or engaging in risky behavior that has consequences if you engage in it long enough.

I saw a horrifying bit on last season's biggest loser. I don't remember the contestant's name, but she was a Hispanic woman and the part of the episode was about going out and eating healthier with her family, and her husband was being a real azz and kept stuffing his face when she told him that he didn't need to eat so much. He was very macho about it. She looked beyond embarrassed. His response, IMHO, was beyond just being a jerk to being genuinely abusive towards her. No wonder her response to dealing with that kind of attitude had been to gain weight. It was very sad.

I don't find the ad offensive, what's offensive is that people seem to much anymore to cry "I'M A VICTIM" when what they're a victim of is their own choices. My late mother said even on her deathbed that "cigarettes didn't give me this cancer, and I will continue to smoke because I enjoy it and I want to." A little more than 24 hours after she said that, she died from the complications of Stage IV lung cancer... brought on by 60 years of smoking.

Very very sad.

Sorry to sort of trying to kill the thread here with my hijack. I agree that people are way over-reacting to the ad with the rest of you. Humans really go nicely with a good wine sauce on the side.

well if we must get serious, let's make a serious point.

I doubt you will find a single person, fat or thin, on this forum who finds this joke insulting. everyone here has already made the not insubstantial mental leap to get or stay healthy. many lost weight in the past, some have always lived healthily, but mentally we all accept the benefit of not being fat.

The people who are sensitive to this kind of joke are the ones in denial, who won't make the change and need to be reassured that they will be ok and there is nothing wrong with being unhealthy.
