If Big Mac gets into the H.O.F. and Charlie Hustle is kept out, batten down the hatches because there is going to be one helluva firestorm.

I assumed Mac fessed up is to try and open some space between himself and Rose.

Is Rose off the ballot now, is his time up, or has he just been off the ballot all along?

Rose is off the ballot forever, since he signed that agreement, late 80's. You can't have a betting interest in the game, when you control the outcome. I am a Reds fan, and I wish it did not have to be that way, but he got what he deserved.

I also support keeping out Mac and Clemens, but I'm not sure how they can do it correctly and fairly. What about Bonds and Sosa, presumed guilty, but...? What a mess! It's so sad, especially for the ones who stayed clean, like Griffey (presumably), and the past players who lost their records.

What about all the speed in the lockerrooms in the '70's and '80's? That is also a performance enhancer and was in the fricking coolers in the dugout!

Lets put the blame on the owners and management of Professional Sports. They knew it was going on, they rewarded "enhanced athletes" with big contracts and have ducked responsibility for the most part. Congress needs to put owners on the hotseat and leave players to the owners to manage. I don't blame Big Mac for ignoring The Congressional Investigation. Congress is supposed to make rules for Americans to live by.

Hurray to Big Mac for having the guts to tell congress to kiss off. Shame on Big Mac for being Self Serving. No other athlete ever sinks so low.

Oh, and a little birdie told me, Dynaballs (steroids) and Animal Growth Steroids were actively being used by the 70s. All the way down to the high school level.

Since the first cromagnons raced each other for dibs on the best part of the Trex, man has been taking performance enhancing substances. Grog eat veloicraptor poo, Grog runs faster than Ogg. Grog get TRex drumstick for Oggette. Oggette give Grog some bangee bangee. And so the story goes. No body cares what **** you take, as long as you perform. But when the present day cheaters beat the old school cheaters, then feelings get hurt and uproar ensues. Sports have never been clean and will never be clean. There is too much money at stake, even at the high school level for it to be any other way.

Give him credit for admitting it. At least he didn't claim he "unknowingly" took steroids. That seems to be the big excuse these days, be it from baseball players or cyclists. It's certainly a better apology than we saw from A-Rod, Giambi, etc. (Basso, Landis, etc. in cycling).

He's taking a bit of a beating for the timing of the announcement and his regretting playing in the steroid era. I can understand that. He could have swallowed his pill before congress and he may have been seen as a hero. Then again, is that something you would have done? As for the steroid era, just because everyone else was doing it doesn't necessarily excuse his actions.

There's plenty of blame to go around. Blame the players, the owners, the media, and even the fans.

Just 2 questions:

1. Could you ever see a day when Armstrong comes out and admits using EPO?

2. How come nobody ever goes after NFL players?
