Obsessions

What are your obsessions? Ones that others don't understand or berate you for?

Huh? Do you mean obessions of mine people don't understand and do berate me for? Or ones people don't understand but don't yell at me about?

I get berated for everything so this probably doesn't apply... I have lots of obsessions since I am compulsive-obsessive however one I am trying to deal with now... I have a paper obsession. I love to make my own greeting cards... I have so much paper if my apartment ever catches fire you will be able to see it from outer space!

Ooo I'm sorry, that wasn't clear. Ones that people don't understand and DO berate you for. I have OCD, Pam. Big time. That's one of the things people get on me for. But in terms of everyday ~

Mine is ....well, I'm sure you all know because it gets mentioned here all of the time.

Sad but all of my OCD relates to bad behaviors. like overeating and excessively buying all that paper.

My neighbor also has OCD... she likes to clean (my mother has this as well). At 3 am she is up scouring the tub and washing down her sidewalks, washing her walls, scrubbing her floors, shaking out her linens, cleaning up the backyard, etc. We live in apartments, I know exactly whats she is doing... I am not sleeping much these days...

I have a bit of OCD myself. A prescription for a SSRI has helped, but it's the compulsions that I get berated for: I compulsively pick at my cuticles. Not pretty.

I have a thing for silence. That's why I can't live on an apartment. I love silence.

I too have OCD. Most people do suffer from it more than others so it is good if one can recognize it. I am obsessed with exercise. I feel the need to get a work out in daily or twice a day, even when injured.

I also cannot pass any clock that is not showing the right time. If I can get to it without getting noticed, I'm setting it.

Strangely enough, I was just discussing this with my therapist, except we called referred to it as a Passion. I don't have one. He asked about cycling. I told him that I enjoy riding, and working on my bikes, and looking at them, and talking about them, but I won't ride if the weather isn't within a specific perfect range. Or if there's a movie on TV that I've seen 3 or 4 times already and also own on DVD. Or the cats are sleeping in my lap. I make more excuses to not ride, than I do to actually go ride. I would think that if cycling were my passion, almost nothing would stop me from going on a ride.

I can't think of anything that I'm passionate about. Which sucks.

Bicycles, Sudoku, Bike Forums...

jigsaw puzzles would be one too, but the Mrs. has the OCD in the house and jealously protects table space.
