reconditioning older leather road shoes

anyone know a way? they are in great shape besides being just a bit dirty, and the leather needs some reconditioning, not brittle or hard, or anything like that, just like a pair of Nikes that you had in your closet for say.....20 years.

Proofhide? That way you'll be able to justify buying a new Brooks in order to use up the rest.

+1 on Lexol - try the NF formula if you can find it.

also good: Blackrock leather n rich

you can also just use a little Vaseline or beeswax if you have some around.

I do want to get a Brooks Swift or Swallow. (on the cheap) but I tried the saddle soap, came clean but I'm going to have to wait for them to dry to see how "supple" the leather turns out.

good luck.

You may wanna look in the saddle swap thread, or contact a shop like Wallingford, who may have returned saddles for a bit less.
