Lessons to be learned from the Toyota recalls.

I feel so ashamed, I've been bowing at a 45 degree angle for my mistakes at work...

American car Co. have been getting away with selling thier ****ed up vehicles for a good many years now, so why are "the powers that be" coming down on Toyota? So that U.S made cars don't look half as bad as they really are? To help our screwed up economy? I don't know. What I do know is Toyota is getting a bad wrap that they don't deserve.

Seriously? Are we really collectively analyzing the angle of his bow?

I'm never considering a Toyota now, because I believe the proper angle of bow for a mistake of this magnitude is 62.5 degrees.

Still lovin' my Tacoma...I guess nobody really is perfect. My next vehicle will be for Mrs. Cloud and I'm very likely to replace her Honda with another one. (or a Toyota)

The fallacy at this point is buying into the idea of what's "American" made and what's an "import". It's all percentages now. Mazda makes an engine for Ford (or at least they used to). So a Ford is far from 100% American made. Toyotas are built in the states with many parts made in the states. So they're partially USA made. Toyota still builds some of the best cars on the road today. Even if a few of them don't want to stop.

your right, maybe they do deserve it, but if you are right and they do indeed deserve it then American car Co. deserve 1000 times more as they've been getting away with building turds for more than a few decades now.

Sorry but the media is making this a much bigger deal than it is and no doubt, with political pressure.

I have googled recalls on 1 German car I own, 1 Toyota truck and two American cars. Guess whose recall lists are longer and with just as or more dire consequences?

It isn't scientific but it's good enough for me. My next car will be a Toyota.

Hey, maybe its because Japanese and German cars are made in Red States and the American cars are made in Blue states. (Saturn doesn't count)

Saturn isn't going to be made anywhere for much longer.

I'm sure Washington's poking it's nose in and using it's media flunkies to pound the Japanese. The Japanese have over a trillion dollar surplus and we're how many trillions in debt?? Honest to God, I've lost count. I don't blame one party or the other for the financial disaster because they're both equally guilty of sucking Alan Greenspans left one. It's the bankers fault...pure and simple. The bottom line is our economy is in the craphouse, GM had to be bailed out, and the govt. wants some if not all of the money back. Fine by me...we should have never lent it to them in the first place IMO. But we did, so it's only natural to help them get back on their feet anyway they can. That's where pounding the Japanese comes in. But it won't work for long...the Japanese are strong and one of the most technologically advanced people on earth. GM and Chrysler better get it right and get it right fast. They won't get a second chance to get back in the game.

Every manufacturer is under pressure to produce a car that sells at a profit. For years Toyota has done well. Howver as they grew in numbers, the pressure to do both increased. Because of their fine reputation, they got by for a while. Now it can't be overlooked.

Ok, prove what you say. Use data from JD Powers, Consumer Reports, or whatever. Not just you saying something sucks.

Sort of on topic, I had a conversation with an idiot today who was using the recall as an opportunity to slam non big 3 cars. He said it was funny, because it was proof that big 3 cars were better, and that it was "unamerican" to drive that other foreign garbage. I asked him if he'd ever so much as driven a non big 3 car, which by the way, most any car including non big 3 that you'll find in the states are made in the US and Mexico, which is very much part of America. He got dumb founded and pissed off at me, and started to raise his voice, at which point I left. I guess you can't fix stupid.

I go by my personal experience and unlike others I don't need people like "JD Powers, Consumer Reports, or whatever" to tell me what I should buy. matter of fact, as soon as my 1998 Rav 4 dies on me (which will prob be in like another 20 years) I'm gonna run right out and buy another one!
