Computer help

So I just got rid of a Windows Internet Security rogue thing and once I got rid of it I can't open anything except IE. When I click on thing on something to open an "open with" pop up comes. Any suggestions on what I can do would be helpful. I tried to move my stuff onto an external hard drive but sadly I can't open it to do so, otherwise I'd be wiping out my laptop right now.

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

How did you get rid of it, exactly? Sounds like you wiped some essential associative filepaths in your registry when you did it. You might try reverting the computer to it's last working configuration through restore......

In college my CS prof said "the best way to use your PC to balance your checkbook is to sell the PC. deposit the money in your account, and forget about balancing it". Still true today. Sell the da** thing and surf the web at the library.

But other than that, what Tom said.

I don't have time to go to the library during the designated hours to do research and papers. Plus you only get 30 mins.

The only thing I can think of is if something showed up in the malware remover and I deleted everything that came up as infected or whatever. I tried the last working restore thing and nothing happened.

I hate to break it to you, but you might as well get out your install discs, assuming you have them? If you just randomly deleted infected files, then you definitely took out key files. You need to do a clean install, or go through and manually repair the deletion s. The clean install is easier. If you can't back up your data though, you just lost it all.

I just downloaded ccleaner and it helped somewhat. I no longer get those open with pop ups but now it is "run as" and says which account do you want to use to run this program. I got some programs to open.
