My Valentine's Day Dinner

my wife left me again (for two months on business), but we wanted to still celebrate Valentine's Day (which is also New Year!)... so we each made dinner and set the time for a dinner date - by Skype!

my dinner:

chopped Romaine w/tomato and shredded carrot and Caesar dressing
calamari and fried shrimp, along with a simple Remoulade of lemon juice, Worchestershire, mayo, cayenne, and hot chili sauce:

oh, and since she doesn't really cook - her fare was a plain burger (no bun) and small salad

No pictures, but today was a grilling day under the Guanacaste tree. Chicken, beef, lamb. Various veggies were grilled as well. It isn't called valentine's day here, but friends and lovers day. I.e. just have a party.

Ours was roasted herb chicken with smashed potatoes, brussel sprouts, carrots and onions and of course gravy. Oh yeah and a bottle of white wine. A great meal and a great day.

Ours has a trunk of at least 5 feet in diameter, and probably covers a half an acre, at least.

Red-cooked beef tongue, basmati rice, vegetable medley.

I love shrimp and calamari.

Lobster tail with drawn butter, asparagus, spinach, mushroom, and red pepper salad, fresh baked rolls, rainbow sherbet.
Why do I have so much trouble trying to lose weight?

We're celebrating Chinese New Year over at the la casa Nekohime. We have xiu mai, cha shu bao, half a roast duck, various noodle dishes and lots of tangerines. Yum!

I had lasagne, salad, and a scoop of spumoni ice cream for dessert. Lovely Valentine's Day here!

I tried my hand at chicken Marsala for the first time.

The guinea pigs were my wife, my Mom and my brother. I served it over linguini with Italian bread and olive oil with roasted garlic and spices to dip it in. No pics but everyone was pleased.
