If you can't forget about the old, don't get a new

I'm guilty of this as well... met this great woman shortly after divorcing 2nd wife, everything was going well but then I broke up with her to re-marry the 2nd ex that I was unable to forget. A similar thing also happened with my 1st ex (a different woman for a change), this time with me playing the part of the unforgettable ex for a few years.

And it seems this is more likely to happen when the old love also happened to be the first love, first boyfriend/girlfriend, first everything.

But not forgetting someone and not being forgotten by someone are not the only positions in this game. Trying to play the role of the new love is a big gamble, with huge risk of getting hurt. If you play this position and you lose, well... like my mom says "you had it coming"... suck it up and get some comfort in knowing there was nothing wrong with you in the first place... keep your bike close and maintain those serotonin levels in check.

...and now that I got you in the mood, scroll down

Just curious are you still with the second ex? Wouldn't bringing her back nullify the ex status? If you are not with her is she the second wife twice removed, third, or second and a half?

YOU!!! STAY AWAY FROM ALL WOMEN FOR AT LEAST A YEAR!!!! You obviously have a dismal track record, so stay single, raise the kids, learn how to make REAL lasagna, and ride your bike.

Can I keep Gloria Gaynor on my playlist? The tempo matches my cadence perfectly...

I had a roommate for a while that had one of those stormy on and off again relationships with an ex and she used to just hate it whenever I played this song during one of their many many episodes. She finally figured it out that hiding the cd and moving away from her ex would both make her life better.

Easiest way to get over an Ex is to move onto the next! Especially good if the next one you're banging is the Ex's best-friend or sister.

Yup... that keeps dragging me into some occasional drama, like the facebook incident couple of weeks ago... oh well, let me make them kids some dinner. Hopefully they will grow a little bit faster with full bellies.

...Don't worry, they don't like lasagna, making rice, beans and some non-expired chicken...

Believe me, I'm not going to touch anything than resembles my 2nd ex-wife (or 1st, but I didn't really hate her, it simply no longer worked) in the remotest. I fully regret my decision to become involved with her, and, unfortunately, its a decision with children that I'll have to endure the next 10 years so so until they're grown. After that, I have no intentions of being involved in any manner whatsoever.

You can't spell "next" without "ex."

Seriously, though, I learned in high school that they're an ex for a reason. Remember that reason and stick to your guns, no matter how hard you miss them. It will pass, it will get manageable, it will be for the best.

But most importantly, switch to the Cake version of the song. Their use of a single F-bomb tucked away in the middle changes the tone from pathetic to righteous anger.
