    Tipping Delivery Guys ?

I'm getting a sofa delivered tomorrow. Am I supposed to tip the guys if they bring it in and help set it up ?

    I would.

They probably make better money than pizza delivery people, but still.

Yes, especially if you ask them to put the sofa in a particular place, or if they have go up some tricky stairs or the like. I usually tip something like $5/guy, maybe more.

I was being sarcastic btw, give em something like two or three or 5 bucks tops. If you can get away with it, give ' em a life tip and that might be all they need, or maybe a business card, sorry I'm a cheapskate.

    tip them beer... good beer.
Food for thought: if you aren't dead by 2050, you and your entire family will be within a few years from starvation. Now that is a cruel gift to leave for your offspring. ;)

Two guys delivered and set up our bedroom suite. I gave them a $10 tip. In hindsight, it probably was a bit low considering how heavy the furniture was, and how long it took to set everything up.

I shoot family portraits and $5-$20 is an avrg and one time I got $100

I'd give them at least $10-20 apiece. Especially if they have to endure the wife bossing them around with where to place everything... and re-place it here... and there... no back to the original spot...

There was a mailman once who was making the rounds on Xmas Eve, when one of his prettier customers invited him in, made him breakfast, took him upstairs for a roll in the sack, and gave him a dollar. He asked her why she did so much for him. She said she asked her husband what they should give the mailman for Xmas, and he said "Screw him, give him a dollar". Breakfast was her idea.

I moved Furniture in College. The regular was nothing. The exceptional was $100. It was my job to get your sofa from point a to point b. Not redesign your living room. I never said no in an attempt to get a tip, but more often than not the bored house wife would just have us put everything back where it was originally, and give us nothing. When we did get tips $20 was regular split between two guys. On a personnel note, offer them a drink. People don't think about that. You get thirsty moving furniture.

I had an oversized love seat delivered to my studio apartment. I tipped them $20 (10 each) for bringing it up and getting it through 4 doors

Tip + sandwich - unless it's summer, then tip + whatever you have on the grill (seems delivery people show up out here in the middle of no where late in the day!).

NOT a good idea to give the delivery guy beer - they're driving!!
