Any Killer Apps

Just picked up an Ipod touch and wanted to know if there are any killer apps out there that I can't live without.

It sounds funny, but the app I enjoy the most is Shazam, which identifies songs that you hear at restaurants or over the radio but they don't bother to announce. I think it would work with the latest generation of IPod.

Pandora is a very cool app, even though I hear there might be some that are better.

ESPN Sports Center is cool.

Bejeweled @ and Jungle Style pinball are good if you just want to waste time.

Yahtzee, Life and Monopoly are fun if you have children/grandchildren.

I have a variety of GPS cycle apps but they are all energy hogs so I think I'm going to go back to my Garmin.

I like my portable level (iHandy Level) app plus the Remote. Remote allows you to control iTunes running on the network. I have a Airport Express attach to the Onkyo receiver so I can control what music is playing in the house from the iTouch. Cool eh?

An app I have used is Bike Gears. I also use the 100 Pushups app to keep my upper body strong.

Shazam is cool but won't work with the touch. Only the Iphone.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I found a pretty good one for logging bike stats and felt perhaps there were some others to help with the daily ride. I saw one that let's your Ipod function as a blinkie but I was skeptical about.

If you work out at a health club (with wifi) you might find the Slingbox app pretty handy.

Unlike my wife, my son and what seems to be the rest of the civilized world, I have found that I can live quite well without the whole thing. (but I am giving serious thought to the idea of a netbook)

The actual killer app is The App Store, what it kills, your wallet.

What apps are you buying? Most of them are free or in the .99 cent category...hardly a bank buster. I have a few the cost a little more, but if I have $50 wrapped up in apps I'd be surprised.

I get Macworld and they have app recommendations every month so I got a lot of good ideas. I like weather apps with wind profiles and got Bicycle Stats. My favorite non-bike app is probably Eucalyptus (which can download any book in the Gutenberg project for free). Haven't got the Itunes bill yet. I'm sure I'll have some 'splaining to do.

Pocket God is the best game ever.
Best 99 app, much less game, out there.
Hours of fun.

+1 on Shazam
Google and Google Earth are good.
My one expensive app is the Audubon Collection.

Backgammon Nj is the best backgammon app, Shredder is the best chess app.
Pocket Universe is the best virtual planetarium app I've found.
iTranslate is ok.

Dropbox is cool. It enables file sharing between multiple computers and your iPhone. It can optionally be used to create a publicly-accessible and more-or-less real-time online photo gallery.

Track My Tour is also very cool. It allows you to record your location (along with notes, photos, etc) and store them on an online map. It doesn't record your location in real-time (like a standalone GPS device would); instead, it only records your position when you tell it to. Because of this, it doesn't need to be running all the time (and therefore doesn't kill your battery life). It can also record position/notes/photos when connectivity is unavailable, queue them on the phone, then upload them later when connectivity is restored.

For games, I like Angry Birds, Paper Toss, Word Pops

For Solitaire: Sol Free

I also have a few cycling ones: Bicycle Tube (aggregates bicycle youtube videos) and Cycling Grub is good too.

I don't know if they have it for the iPod Touch, but VisibleVote is pretty sweet.
