Clapton is Cream of Rock!

Just listening to some good old school Clapton and Cream. Great jammin music. Nothing gets me psyched for a ride better than Clapton. I know there are other threads on tunes, but seriously, who is better to listen to than Eric? C'mon, who?

This was the show we saw. I have a DVD of it right here. You can actually see me and my pal in the crowd in one of the shots of Winwood (we were 10 rows up on the side of the stage behind Winwood's piano, best seats I ever had at the Garden).

You answered your own question!! No seriously, that's totally subjective. Who's better to listen to depends on the mood I'm in.

For Clapton I have Delaney & Bonnie live, his first solo, Derek & Dominos (live and studio), and also 461 OB and There's One In Every Crowd, which is probably a lot compared to any other random sexagenarian out there. I think D&B pried something out of him that I like that none of his previous work showed a hint of, and I appreciate that. And oh yeah along the lines of D&B + D&D I also have All Things Must Pass

Ah, yes, George Harrison's homage to kidney stones.

To paraphrase Pcad, well y'all, shut up and pass the bong! We saw the same tour at the MGM Grand. He played forever. Best concert in 20 years.

Layla, new or old mix? opinions?

You could give me free VIP tickets to a Clapton concert and I would not go. I think he's a horrible guitar player.

"comin' home" with delaney & bonnie from clapton's crossroads boxset-disc 2, track 8 (i think) is a personal fave. some of the mostly (previously) unreleased stuff he did with derek & the dominoes on discs 2 & 3 are a revelation. "roll it over," "evil," "got to get better in a little while," "mean old world" and "one more chance" are all classic e.c. some of them were slated for the 2nd derek & the dominoes studio album which never materialized.

my favorite beatles aftermath solo effort. "let it roll (the ballad of sir frankie crisp)" and the title track are so pure.
